Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, my 996 came with a set of KW competition coilovers, installed by the previous owner at Manthey (I believe). Those coilovers are a bit niche and I can hardly find information about them so I thought about asking in case some more experienced people can provide advice. My goal this weekend is to change the springs, I de-pressurised the external canister system and removed the coilovers from the car, however I have trouble disassembling any further, in particular I don't know how to remove the top hat. On the picture you can see a nut at the top - when I try to spin it the whole inner tube spins together with the shock body. I'm not sure where or how to counter-hold in order to proceed. Beneath the nut is a uniball-like joint - any advice on how to disassemble that would also be much appreciated.

POST 2Original post

My advice would have been to loosen that top nut while the CO's were still installed in the car. Your best bet would be to reach out to KW and see what they recommend. Good luck

POST 3Original post

IMO they are too expensive to mess with - send them to your KW repairer and they can rebuild them. It's not that expensive.
