If I track the car, I could always swap in a fixed seat but i'd like to sit lower in general and still retain the adjust ability so my wife can still drive it.

If you want more headroom but still need to slide the seat, you can run a Euro GT3 Recaro with a Brey Krause seat frame that will let you tilt it further back.

And I only use about a 1.5 inches of the extra room.

I don't know if you retain the ability to use a under seat harness bar when bolting the seat directly to the floor - you'll have to check.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Found a set of Manual Sport seats out of a 996 Turbo locally.
My car came with Full Power (and memory) "Pleated Leather" standard seats.
Will the Manual Sport seats sit lower than whats in my car currently?
Will it be a simple plug and play swap if I go through with it? Shame I'll remove the memory function from the car but I'd like to sit a little lower if possible (i'm 6'6").
GT3 console delete going in today but every little bit helps
My car also is full power memory seats.
I am 6'4" and also did the GT3 console delete. I like the car interior better with this done even if leg room did not matter. Not a fan of consoles.
I also added the extendmyseat kit. Thumbs up to this kit. Gave an added three inches of leg room with little or no impact on head room. And I only use about a 1.5 inches of the extra room.
My brother is 6'6" and 36 inseam and he found the car roomy. I am long in the torso and 34.5 inseam. (not a heavy guy at all. just a large person)
I have often found sports seats too narrow for tall or large drivers. My 45 inch chest and 17 inch wide hip bones are too wide for the narrow and more pronounced bolsters. My true race seats had to be custom made. Have not tried the Porsche ones.
Currently im sitting in the sweet spot of the roof it seems. If i extend my seat any further rearward i will get into the downward slop of the roof. Unless going rearward also goes lower?
GT3 console delete is in and a HUGE improvement. Its very comfortable now. The only issue ill have is trying to fit a helmet for a track day.
im 66 with a 36 waist and a 36 seam. Size 16 shoes (pedals box is cramped but theres nothing to do there lol)
6'6" will be a challenge. It all depends on how badly you want to do trackdays. Most headroom clearance is getting a set of Euro GT3 seats (about 3k) and bolting them directly to the floor. Taking the foam cushions out of the center will get you another 3/4". This will keep you in the sweet spot relative to the sunroof and maximize helmeted headroom without requiring a steering wheel extender.
I don't know if you retain the ability to use a under seat harness bar when bolting the seat directly to the floor - you'll have to check.
Non sunroof cars rule...
Was hoping to retain the power seat function so my wife can still drive the car...
Also, I'd like to keep my back seats in the car (for my kiddos to enjoy) and I subscribe to the idea that with a fixed bucket seat, a roll bar and harness would be required...
Might one day decide to go full "race" and strip it down but for now I'll have to see if manual rails make any difference.
I'm getting mixed reports that Manual rails sit higher (in their lowest position) than full electric seats. Counter-intuitive from other experiences I've had but would love for someone to confirm this.
I'm 6'-4.5" with long torso. Only stock 996 I fit comfortably in is my Targa. I will have to do some modifications to fit without having my helmet rubbing the roof. Leg room is not a concern.
Euro GT3 Recaro is fine with lap belts so no need for harness bar, there are many people running them on the street this way.
The 996 GT3 RS came this way (with lap belts) from the factory (albeit with the half cage).

Do the Euro Recaro GT3 seats fit 36" waists? Do they force your legs out straight? My knees are currently bent to go around the steering wheel a bit.
I just got a steering wheel spacer and a Raid 340mm wheel (with spacer) to push the wheel closer to me. We'll see how much of a difference that makes for knee placement but im still looking at sitting lower.
If I track the car, I could always swap in a fixed seat but i'd like to sit lower in general and still retain the adjust ability so my wife can still drive it.
I think 36 in will be close to the limit of the hard shell.
If I were you, I'd just pick up an inexpensive Recaro race seat (not the Euro GT3) and bolt it directly to the floor for trackdays. After the track day I'd take it out and switch it back for your wife.
I don't know of an answer that will give your everything you want
at the same time.
Best of luck -
