They run about $2000 and I was ready to pull the trigger when I ran across the Schnell high flow cats for about 40% less.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseam, but I hear the cats are the restrictive part of our 996 exhaust system. I'd like to have my '02 C4S breathe a little better, and looked at the Fabspeed High Performance cats. They run about $2000 and I was ready to pull the trigger when I ran across the Schnell high flow cats for about 40% less. They say they will add performance, but they all say that. I'm curious if anyone has real world experience with either ones? I do a lot of DE's and want to ask if you've added them to your car and have noticed any performance improvement? I thought this would be a good wintertime project. Thanks, Steve

I would consider getting in touch with Gert at Carnewal and having him replace your cat cores. Neither Fabspeed nor Schnell would be on my shopping list. http://www.carnewal.com/products/996...nge-Sport-Cats If you are set on getting an entirely new set of pipes, you could consider Cargraphic as well. The separate crossover pipes tend to preserve low end torque better. The 'x-pipe' configuration tends to move the powerband up the rpm range with slightly increased peak hp at a higher rpm at the expense of low end torque. https://www.vividracing.com/-p-15088...SABEgKC0vD_BwE Best of luck!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Tonger, I'll look into that. So you actually get a performance boost out of it? Steve

Yes, they wind up with lower restriction. Gert claims like 10 hp and 10 N-m of torque which is a pretty typical claim.
