Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

too me they appear to be smaller in diameter compared to OEM, the O2 sensors have been replaced in 2014 so they have about 15000 kms.
Leading evidence: 'Replace too me they appear' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check timing deviation, knock sensor, overrevs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

To monitor oil temp on the road I use a OBD dongle from Launch.

I dont really plan on tracking the car, I really want to keep it close to stock conditions but I want to do a couple DIY projects such as changing my steering wheel, oil change, brakes ect...

I have a cheap OBD2 reader to clear the code but I would like to use the new diagnostic tool to activate some SAI system components and trace down the problem.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone,
I know the question has been asked many times but Christmas is coming and I have to make a choice!
After reading for hours on Durametric and Foxwell NT520 I still can't decide which unit is better for my application.
Back in the days when I was racing with my old Ae86 this was not an issue as I was using Megasquirt, a standalone ECU fully programmable but now with the Porsche I must admit I need help and advices.
I dont really plan on tracking the car, I really want to keep it close to stock conditions but I want to do a couple DIY projects such as changing my steering wheel, oil change, brakes ect...
So here are my needs so far:
-Reading real time coolant temp.
-Reading real time oil temp.
-Reading O2 sensors voltage or A/F ratio
-Timing deviation
-Reading real time knock sensor
-Read overrev datas if possible
-Reset most of codes (Especially air bag as I want to change my steering wheel for one in better conditions)
I read that the Durametric can also activate radiator fans, SAI pump, ABS pump( I guess its usefull when you change the pump?) and more. Do you know if Foxwell NT520 can do it too?
The only problem I have with the car is the code P0491-P0492 that pop-up once in a while. I have a cheap OBD2 reader to clear the code but I would like to use the new diagnostic tool to activate some SAI system components and trace down the problem.
My only concern about the Durametric is the customer service and the fact that the unit is not a standalone and have to be plugged in a CPU.
While the Foxwell NT520 is a standalone Im not sure it has all the features Im looking for....
Any advices would be appreaciated
Thanks
Hugo
Regarding the fault codes: any mods on the engine (intake/exhaust) Manual or tiptronic?
To monitor oil temp on the road I use a OBD dongle from Launch. Easy Diag 2.0 Plus. Bought it on eBay for around 80$ at that time. It is one of the only smaller tools that can acces the oil temp date in the ECU.
It further can monitor a lot more variables then most standard OBD tools. But not activation of subsystems, checking timing deviation, knock sensor, overrevs. For those last ones you will need a Durametric. The foxwell will probably be able to activate the ABS pump.
Hi! The car is manual and yes exhaust is a little bit ''modded" with Aftermarket Catalytic converters.. too me they appear to be smaller in diameter compared to OEM, the O2 sensors have been replaced in 2014 so they have about 15000 kms. A PSE system was also retrofitted by previous owner.
No modification on the intake, except brand new Bosch throttle body and filter.
On a side note the SAI pump in itself seems to work as it should, noise is very steady and at acceptable level. I will get theses codes maybe once per month, sometimes not even but they still show-up once in awhile.
If the Foxwell can only activate the ABS pump I will pass as its my very last concern on the list. I was interrested by this feature only if one day I have to change the master cylinder... which will probably never happen!
Thanks
Thanks for your advises.
So Durametric seems the way to go!
I will try to figure out if it can be installed on a mini computer like a Aspire one. Less trouble to carry it in the car.
Ashai thanks for the link very good infos.
If you dont mind I would like to send your a PM as I have few more questions regarding the SAI system.
Thanks
I run Durametric on my Windows 10 laptop, and if I want real time information I just place it on the passenger seat.
Can I make a suggestion? Post your questions regarding the SAI system because we all learn stuff as we go along. There are no stupid questions when it comes learning more about our cars and engines.
