arcing across the pins, the first cable hasn't come back to life, but the second cable, I cleaned the contacts on the phone and cable and everything seems to be back to normal now.

When I had the cable installed I made mistake of not putting a male to female usb cable and just plugged the iPhone cable direct into the pioneer unit.

LOL I got so tired of my cables looking like that, now I use a shrink fit to my cable ends and haven't had to replace them since.

I cant seem to pin point where the problem is coming from, whether its the cars electrical system surging and shorting the cable out, which seams unlikely as the cable worked fine for 6 weeks plugged in the Pioneer, or if the problem is with the phone, or if i just had two faulty cables.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
Has anyone experienced having their iPhone 7 lightening cable shorting out?
Ive has now experienced this problem twice since owning the car (2 months of ownership)
Both times were different. First time, the cable was plugged into 2amp usb port in the cigarette lighter. The second, i have the cable installed into my Pioneer AVH-4100NEX system.
I cant seem to pin point where the problem is coming from, whether its the cars electrical system surging and shorting the cable out, which seams unlikely as the cable worked fine for 6 weeks plugged in the Pioneer, or if the problem is with the phone, or if i just had two faulty cables.
Anyone experience this before?
Has
both were genuine Apple cables. First USB port may not have been up to par. But the pioneer system is solid. When I had the cable installed I made mistake of not putting a male to female usb cable and just plugged the iPhone cable direct into the pioneer unit. Wont make that mistake when I replace it again.
My cables all looked like these
None of the 3 frayed genuine apple cables I have resulted in any shorts. However, they all frayed and I bought aftermarket cables to replace them.
