I believe that the 2004 AE 996 also used a manual linkage.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The 1999 version of the 996 used a mechanical throttle. I believe that the 2004 AE 996 also used a manual linkage. I wonder if the AE throttle body would be an upgrade (is it bigger)? If fittment problems, then you could always pair it up with the AE IPD plenum to solve any flange bolt pattern concerns? ...just thinking.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I saw this pic on the 40th thread and got to wondering if...

POST 3Original post

The 40th should he e-gas and your photo looks more like a 996.1

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Maybe I got fooled... can't fault a guy for dreamin'

POST 5Original post

I posted that pic on the 40th thread as a "NON 40th" aftermarket silicone intake pipe example. It is def not the 40th. The 40th has an extra tube that connects into the elbow piece.

POST 6Original post

Fun fact the 996tt and same year model boxsters share the same 74mm throttle body.

POST 7Original post

The only 996's that has a cable is the 98- 99 c2 with DME 5.2.2 , 99 c4+ had e-gas and DME 7.2. No bigger throttle body's available and can only be bored out a few mm's (very thin). Maybe someone could 3D print some? lol

POST 8Original post

Yeah the 40th has egas; it does have LSD like some 99s but egas all the same.
