Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone tried one of the CF trim kits for sale on Ebay ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-996....c100005.m1851 ) ? The ones that have double sided tape on them that you place over your normal trim. I have the factory CF trim kit but some of it (specifically the horseshoe trim) has started to crack. Thanks

POST 2Original post

I have bits and pieces of a kit like that on one of my Boxsters. Honestly? They look like crap. Save your money. YMMV.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks RedTele. That's what I was afraid of. On this same topic, does anyone know if there's a way to repair a crack in the CF? I'd like to avoid spending $600+ on a small piece of CF if I can.

I'm not sure these guys are still in business. It's worth a phone call... www.craftcustoms.com

POST 5Original post

Crack all the old resin off. Get new UV stable resin from a marine supplier. Recoat with marine grade resin. Topcoat with 2k UV stable clearcoat. There's a thread in the 996 Turbo forum about restoring carbon and that's what was done - not by me, thankfully my carbon is still in good shape.
