My left turn signal indicator started to fast blink so I opened the left headlight assembly and changed the bulb. But the indicator continued to fast blink and the turn signal still did not work.

There appeared to be a little black corrosion on the bulb holder, or maybe it was just flash. Maybe replace the bulb holder as a starting point, yes?

Also make sure the entire headlamp assembly is firmly locked into position. When you use the tool to release and then lock it back in there should be an audible and tactile indication that it's locked and all the electrical contacts are mated. I had a similar issue - changed the bulb, worked for a short time then fast flash. Changed the bulb holder, worked for a short time then fast flash. Finally determined that headlight wasn't firmly locked in.

I had this happen to my 2004 a few weeks ago. One of the contacts on the outside of the turn signal socket had shorted and was no longer making contact when twisted into the housing. If you look, one will likely be burnt and shorter than the other side. The turn signal socket part number is 996-631-118-00. If I didn't already toss it, I will post up a pic of the bad socket this evening.
