Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 996 4s has always had low CO(0.00) and HC (3ppm)readings. Lambda has always been at the max allowed of 1.03 on all the old mot certificates I have. This year it's 1.15 on fast idle and 1.08 on second fast idle. Tester thinks both cats are shot but I'm reluctant to change them on that basis alone. Any suggestions

POST 2Original post

I had similar remission issues when i imported my 996 to Belgium. Before you spend large sum of money in new cats, go to your local auto parts store and buy a can of Mass air flow sensor cleaner. Use a secure hex key and remove the two bolts holding the MAF in the intake tube right above the air filter housing. Spray it down with the MAF cleaner and don't touch the film electronic part with your finger and no need to dry it. Bolt it all back together and take it for a test drive, you notice s difference right away. Take it back for Mot. This solved my emissions problems in Belgium! Good luck
