Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I recently purchased a black 03 996. Love it. One of the options is red seat belts in an otherwise black interior. I plan to buy new floor mats with matching red Porsche letters. Also considering new wheel centers with the red and black badge. I am considering changing the black and therefore almost invisible Carrera lettering to red. Also adding PORSCHE lettering in red. I can't find any example of this. The only red I can find is on th "S", red "turbo" letters, and red Cayenne letters. Any opinions on whether red PORSCHE and Carerra letters on a 996 is a faux pas? I would love to be unique, just don't want to appear to be passing off car as turbo or S. Thanks

I think either the PORSCHE or the CARRERA in red would look good on a black car. I wouldn't put them both on though. My Carrera script was broken so I replaced it with PORSCHE and 911. I really like the way it came out. At the end of the day, it's your car so do what makes you happy. Adding "S" or "Turbo" would be frowned upon.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Bill. Just to clarify, no thought of adding S or turbo just wondering if red is a sacred color specifically for those models as I haven't found an example of red PORSCHE lettering

POST 6Original post

Plastidip is another option to color original lettering red.

Second vote for plastidip. Quick, easy, reversible.

POST 8Original post

I used chrome ones . They'd be easy to dip. I got them on eBay knockoffs , can't tell them from oem , cast and polished aluminum . Chinese made , but they have held up for three years without issue . Cheap

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone. Plasti dip looks like a good option. I also have a piece of interior trim, the ring around the shifter, which is bubbling up and will peel eventually. Looks like Plasti dip might be a good solution for that as well.

POST 12Original post

I plasti dipped my entire center console this summer, and I was very pleased with it. But more pleased with myself.

POST 13Original post

I like the flat black carerra script that came on my car, but I'd say do whatever floats your boat. It's easy enough to try something and undo if you don't like it. I'd prefer stock or no badging, and am not a fan of people changing to newer/older badging, but who cares what I (or anyone else) thinks. Do what makes you happy.

I might put a "RUF 959" badge on my '99 Cab.

POST 15Original post

It is your car and an expression of what you like. Do what you want and be happy.

POST 16Original post

If I don't think this is wrong (it's my car), then I think you can do whatever you want with your badges.
