Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello this time **** marked in the picture, broke inside. what is the part number? my porsche dealer says i need to replace the entire instrument cluster!! (this is an internet picture; i will take a pic of the real **** broken)

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The actual pics: https://i.imgur.com/MUkHtJy_d.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vqg0zWP_d. jpg

POST 3Original post

What if you just break off the other ****? It would look better!

POST 4Original post

Can't tell from the pic what happened. I had my cluster of my 996 off and took it apart to change light bulbs and I think you can take the **** off and the pin stays behind. Again, my memory kind of sucks at times but I think I had them off. If the pin is broken I think you are screwed?

POST 5Original post

I have fixed one of these....its really a piece of cake. You need this part: https://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-INS...hWlmMf&vxp=mtr The hardest part is separating the two halves (front and back) of the instrument cluster. There is on the top center of the cluster that is hard to disengage since it is on the inside and if you are not careful you could crack the instrument cluster. But once you figure that out...its minutes for the whole job.

POST 6Original post

$44... I love these cars. Just get a new cluster off of eBay for $300. Your price/part ratio will be much better.

POST 7Original post

Exactly what I did...but this is why so many clusters that are for sale are missing their *****....people buy them and harvest them and resell them....

POST 8Original post

The replacement stalks are made of a flexible material that is less likely to break again. I have them. I'd recommend you replace both.

You'll think they would be more robust but realistically, how many times in a year do you actually touch those ***** - for me maybe twice a year for the time changes and the instrument lights are set and I never change them.

POST 10Original post

Best part about this thread is K N O B is being asterisked out so it looks like everyone Is cussing.

The hardest part is disengaging the tab that is in the center of the picture
