The mufflers were replaced by muffler bypass pipes, which add nice bigger tips.

Adjusted multiple times trying to find a fine solution, not being too low, hitting speed bumps and driveways, or being too high and having too much wheel gap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

With another 996 in the driveway to fawn over, I've found myself browsing the internet (more than usual) looking for inspiration. Along the way, I've collected some very cool pictures of 996s, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So, rather than keep them to ourselves, I propose we share.
The "Rules"
- 996s only
- No girlie pics (we have other threads for that, and I'd like to be able to look at this thread while at work)
- Go ahead and post pictures of your car, but keep it reasonable. We don't need 45 pictures of your factory-stock car sitting in the driveway...
- Try to keep it to no more than 10 or so pics per post so it doesn't take forever to load the page
- If you're going to quote something, don't quote the whole damn post, we don't need all 10 pictures again
-
If someone posts a picture of a car you don't like, keep your opinion to yourself, no one cares what you think.
I'm sure someone will post something you do like soon enough
Enjoy.

LOL!! It should! Definitely a fun day!
BTW, I was watching Chasing Classic Cars the other day and he had a film crew there. I saw a bunch of these cars on his show. Didn't see yours or mine though!

Time for me to play...My car is not highly modified but I try to have fun with it. First photo is at Carolina Motorsports Park with the hardtop on and the good brake pads
- Second one at Cherahola Parkway in the mountains of North Carolina (close to the Tail of the Dragon but with less traffic) in a more daily-driver/stock configuration.
If you have to get it reset, might as well disable it next time. I'm running mine disabled and never have to worry about hooking up the seat wire harness.
Gator, I'm a bit disappointed that you would do your 5 stage paint correction and not put a condom in front of that thing. But perhaps this is by design as it gives you an incentive to stay AHEAD of other cars.
I used to go the full body condom route but people looked at me funny. I have now perfected my detailing system so that I can go from the track one weekend to a car show the next and still place top 3 in any 2 car field.
Model to model (basic coupe to basic coupe, GT3 to GT3 and so on), I completely agree Jasper.
My 996 fantasy? A GT3 without the aero stuff. Atlas Gray with black interior please.
It's snow foam by a company called Glimmermann,
http://www.glimmermannproducts.co.uk
It's sprayed on with a special lance, left to dwell for about 5 minutes, then rinse off. This lifts all the grit off the surface of the paint, meaning that when you wash it with a mitt, you're not dragging grit all over the car.
My other half bought a brand new car last year, and we always wash it like this, it's just turned one year old and there isn't a single swirl on the car. Great stuff!

Please share...
Where are those roads. I need a couple of license-losing possibilities when the mood to carve strikes.
I bet they're pretty in the autumn too.
My 99 Carrera 4. 96,000mi.
Headed west to Pikes Peak Hill Climb (2013).
Bicycling in Appalachia Maryland (2012),
Co-pilot Clayton.
Ault Park - Cincinnati, Ohio (2011).
Yes, all glass roof. The roof over the passenger area slides under the rear hatch.
Enter the rmr spring autocross and you can see the car. It took first place in the novice class at the Denver concourse de elegance last summer and it will be there again this year.

Absolutely awesome looking car. Love the color of that interior. What are the pedals and where did you get them, they are a must have item. Credit card is out and waiting...
Sarki, the Targa color is "Boxter Red" in full leather. Was a leather color option and not seen on many Carreras.
Mark, the original owner installed the pedals. There is no history on their source.

What color was the 911 emblem on your car? It looks black in the photo. I'm trying to figure out if I want a black emblem on my black car or chrome. My license plate frame is black and I just installed smoked center brake lights. Not sure if I'll be able to see a black emblem on black.
New to the forum - Avant Garde M510 19" Wheels / IPD plenum / EVOMS V-Flow intake / Agency Power Headers / Fabspeed Sportcats and Maxflow Mufflers / GIAC flash.
CDLVancouver,
She is pretty reserved until you get into the 3-5k rpm zone. The intake is noticeable (sounds good). Do not notice anymore road noise from the larger wheels.
Thanks

Also i notice the lights at the back are all red - interesting.
The pipes look good at the back too and a very clean car. :big gulp:

Thank you and good eye! Yea the suspension is the row m030, which drops it a little. The taillights i did myself with red film. I was inspired by the all red 997 oem tails. The mufflers were replaced by muffler bypass pipes, which add nice bigger tips.

I had the motor re-sleeved with Nikasil liners. The connecting rods and pistons are factory although the pistons were treated with a coating on the sides the race shop did. Also added an LN spin on oil filter adapter. New lifters and chain tensioner pads throughout. The engine runs great. Car sounds and drives fantastic.

H&R coilovers. Adjusted multiple times trying to find a fine solution, not being too low, hitting speed bumps and driveways, or being too high and having too much wheel gap. Finally reached a good compromise.
Nice, yeah I like the height. H&R's are what I think I am going to go with too, seem like nice quality for the price. How is the ride? Is it stiff but not rock hard?
