If you're in the market for a double din head unit, I highly recommend taking a look at the sony!

Did it integrate with the rest of a stock system, or did you have to change other components?

If you guys are using a lighting cable, the plug will fit through the hole for the ash tray light with some effort.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Finally decided I needed to move on from the oem Becker. Even with my bluetooth hack, the becker always left more to be desired. I was always weary of making this leap because I didn't want a flashly, obtuse head unit.
I found the Sony XAV-AX100 and absolutely fell in love with it once it was installed. Apple Car Play/Android Auto along with the matte black finish and simplistic design made this a prime candidate for my upgrade. If you're in the market for a double din head unit, I highly recommend taking a look at the sony!

Nice!!! .. vetty vetty nice buddy! Where did you buy the wire harness and double DIN cage/bezel? Parts list would be helpful for others doing the same.
I have the hifi system and used this wireharness:
Metra 70-1787 Radio Wiring Harness for VW/Audi Bose Integration 1993-2007 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007WW64O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_IsENzbTA2Z8NE
This is the bezel I used: (the included storage cubby isn't very good)
Metra 99-9605B Single/Double DIN Dash Kit For Porsche 911 (996) 1999-2005 / Boxster (986) 1997-2004 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3T0ZBW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RtENzbYTQJADW
You need to modify a cross bar thats inside of the horse shoe to make room for the new radio mount; the rest of the stock system can remain as is. I soldered the hardness from the sony unit to the metra unit in my post above, so that it plugs directly into the Porsche wire harness.
Looks good! It's a cleaner looking unit than most.
[rant on] But I still wish these manufacturers would make their stupid, stupid logos removable. Why would I want "Sony" branding in my car's interior? At least this one doesn't have a stupid list of the file formats it plays. It's MP3 compatible?? Oh really?!? Like that's useful information. [/rant off]
Sorry about that. Nice looking install.
I like my Bluetooth fix, but this looks good and I just can't help fixing things that ain't broke. I like that fact that you have the same HiFi option that I do and it works.
I am about to order the same kit and got this head unit. In your picture is this the metra cubby? Or did you use something else down below for HVAC relocate trim and cubby?
