Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It needs to be replaced once a year or so...it comes unstuck due to heat cycling and from getting wet during washes.

Same thing had occurred where the pressure of the rubber seal inside, wear and tear or the previous owner replacing the individual light bulbs with in the assembly cumulated with the age of plastic cause the tab to break.

For now I used some thick double sided tape but looking at doing the led upgrade anyways.

I saw the nut go skittering down into some part of the fender/decklid/wing, I now use high-test 3M double-sided adhesive tape on the top of the light bar housing to keep it stuck where it belongs.

I didn't even see the broken clip - I've been looking into just replacing the part correctly instead of using the adhesive.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I noticed this evening that my rear light brake strip is coming loose. I am not sure how this is sealed on.
Going to my local store I thought this might do the trick. Is this the right way to repair this? Any other thoughts on the correct way if this is not?
You can see the broken clip/tab in your pic. Yeah, some sort of adhesive should work fine. Try the silicone, and if it doesn't hold, try something else.
Thanks for your quick response!
I didn't even see the broken clip - I've been looking into just replacing the part correctly instead of using the adhesive.
I had the issue when I first got the car. Same thing had occurred where the pressure of the rubber seal inside, wear and tear or the previous owner replacing the individual light bulbs with in the assembly cumulated with the age of plastic cause the tab to break. Which in turn did not allow the cover to seal correctly allowing water to go inside when it rained. I tried Aluminum tape and ducked tape to keep the cap closed, then 3M double sided tape for the little foam insert part that I see came off on yours. Anyhow all these were a temporary fix. So to fix it once and for all I opted to just buy a whole new assembly p/n: 99663105006, which retails for about $100 try Gaudin Porsche online parts. The new part includes the bulbs with in the unit too.
Under the cover on the light (there's a little "-" slot for a driver bit) is the access hole to access the cam-lock that is supposed to lock into a plastic captive nut. The plastic nut is missing; it's supposed to be right between the metal ears that look like they're broken. They are not broken, but the design for this part IS broken, or at least pathetic. When you fail to understand how it works and turn the assembly too much in either direction, the captive nut becomes an escapee nut and finds a part of the body to go live in. Forever.

I saw the nut go skittering down into some part of the fender/decklid/wing, I now use high-test 3M double-sided adhesive tape on the top of the light bar housing to keep it stuck where it belongs. It needs to be replaced once a year or so...it comes unstuck due to heat cycling and from getting wet during washes. A dab of clear silicone behind the scenes would make it semi-permanent, but "someday" I'm going to get an LED version so I haven't been willing to resort to liquid adhesives.
Yeah this is my concern - though I do live in California so not much in the way of rain coming up. But I think I will just go ahead and order the part and do it right.
(edit) Just ordered the part through Gaudin. Thanks again for the advice and pointing me to the correct part number!
Doing it right is always a better option, it would annoy me knowing there is adhesive holding that light in!
Gets frustrating as these cars get older that the components become brittle, oh well!
I believe the part number you are looking for is 996-631-168-00-OEM for the brake light fastener. Mine was super brittle and snapped as well. For now I used some thick double sided tape but looking at doing the led upgrade anyways.
