Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

a mate and i at the beginning of 2023 started the 3D print project for a GT3 console DELETE. This was because of wanting too retain the DBL DIN install and have the delete so we spent a few months and got the console 3D printed, too our satisfaction . Thats the easy part View this post on Instagram The prinary design engineering project been the custom MICRO HVAC unit. Designed too control all heating /cooling functions . proof of concept has been achieved and we now start the design process too resolve the packaging of the unit . This is intended to fit into the remaining space in the horseshoe and work for all mk1&2 986 and 996 models on a side note - needed a 996 cup splitter, so decided to print one View this post on Instagram thoughts /interest let me know cheers

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here is Our home depot test rig It has been tested in car and controls all heating cooling functions

POST 3Original post

Amazing! Does this piggyback on the original unit, or does the Arduino handle all functions?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

standalone and controls all functions we have proof of concept and we can control all heating and cooling functions with our unit, now developing/printing our own box to house everything

POST 7Original post

I won't be a customer as I'm redesigning the center console in a different manner, but still totally on board with what you guys are doing!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19096439

always interested in how others skin the cat what causes you too do a total redesign ? are you doing a dbl din install ?

POST 9Original post

Again, another interesting project. What does this system do that the OEM climate control does not do? That kind of looks like a STM32F103 board in the middle of that jungle.

POST 10Original post

Definitely interested. Subscribed. I've the PCCM+ dbl din and would like a console delete, I don't like the cramped cockpit. It's awesome that so much love is being shown to our 996s. Mines an "01 C2 6mt coupe, meridian metallic w Black interior.

its repackaging - enabling dbl din and GT3 console delete , while retaining HVAC on the dash Retaining the factory HVAC UNIT , cannot install dbl din with a GT3 delete. others have done work arounds like installing in the glove box - though jot an option with mk1s in either 996 or 986 i have a mk2 my friend has a mk1 996 with my 97 boxster i tont have dbl din, as i like the layout as is. so just installing the GT3 delete , which in reality was a boxster first option

Got it, thanks. Good luck with the project!

POST 13Original post

Since you're doing all this to allow a double DIN HU with the console delete, did you give any consideration to just make a module like the iDatalink Maestro to control HVAC directly from the HU? Could be an even cleaner solution.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19096551

it would and could and should . Not aware of the idatalink etc been compatible had looked briefly previously agree it would be a solution , if

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 19096461

I'm doing a double-DIN up top, plus wanting two slots down below for HVAC and another interior accessory I'm working on, so I want to keep the middle console, but redesign it to complement the rest of the interior. I feel like a lot of people delete the middle console because it is so clearly an afterthought from the factory.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19097808

Look forward to seeing what youre doing. However I think most people choose the delete because it, the console, limits legroom and theres also the aesthetic, where the interior looks more like the classic air cooled . All good things

POST 17Original post

Interested, as my C4S console has been deleted, but this old guy really, really wants a rearview camera, so any solution involving a new head unit requires moving the HVAC. What does your console look like in the car?
