I just installed new wheels and tires 19 x 8.5 x 50mm offset w 235/35/19 front, 19x11 x 64mm offset w 295/30/19 rear.
Leading evidence: 'Install wheels and tires 19 x 8' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'best value available right now' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fitment' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I used the calculator to determine the best fitment and everything worked out fine.

I think they are probably the best value available right now.

The simplest way to figure all of this out is to use the very good calculator on the main page:
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I am sure these get posted a lot...curious if any one has knowledge or experience with the below wheels fitting my 2004 996 AE...
Tires are factory size 235/35/19 and 305/30/19
19x8.5 et 56

Thanks!
No, but I am looking at preserving the originals and trying to find something OEM I like. I know going up in size is risky; been searching around for ideas and possibilities.
Chris
Going up in size isn't really very risky at all. It opens up lots of more modern tire choices. The main drawback going up is sidewall thickness reduction which may result in a rougher ride.
The simplest way to figure all of this out is to use the very good calculator on the main page:
https://rennlist.com/forums/tire_rim_calculator.php
Put in your OEM wheel and tire specs and the new wheel and tire specs and study the diagrams. I could look up all the specs and do it for you, but that really defeats the purpose.
I went up 1" in diameter in the front of one of my cars and 2" in the rear to get into more modern performance rubber and have a real staggered look. No issues at all. I used the calculator to determine the best fitment and everything worked out fine.
Thanks Anthony, that's a big help! Makes things easier to figure out...trying to find something I like is the next challenge. There is so much out there and the stuff I read on here gets to be a lot, all sorts of information and opinions.
Your car looks nice with the wheel choice there as well.
Appreciate the assistance.
Chris
The PO actually picked these wheels. I'm afraid the rear offset might result in rub during really hard driving, but everyone loves the deep look of the rears. I like them for daily use, but may get something else for autoX and possible track use.
The car I speced my own wheels for was a '91 Corvette ZR-1. High performance 17s don't exist anymore so I went 18/19 front and rear to get modern Corvette sized tires. It looks really nice too and modern tires are so much better.
Seriously just do a little research and find what you like. Porsche has so many great OEM wheels, I think you are on the right track. I'm looking to find some nice OEMs I like for the 996 too, but will likely wait until this winter. I will be using the calculator to check fitment. I might go 19" too.
First I would also check out this site for wheel and tire fitment

I would be a bit concerned on the rear wheel and tire fitment. I just installed new wheels and tires 19 x 8.5 x 50mm offset w 235/35/19 front, 19x11 x 64mm offset w 295/30/19 rear. Your rear with an offset of 51 will stick out approx 13mm (1/2") more and the 305/30 tire is approx .3" larger in dia and .4" wider. My rear wheels are almost flush with fenders as it is. With your size adding a combined 3/4" more offset to outside would definitely project past my fender lip. See below pics.
Texcwa, thanks for the explanation. While the wheels may work in that case, the tire size is a lot is seems. Still looking around. What kind of wheels do you have? Those looks super nice on your car!
Chris
Thanks, The wheels are Kinesis F110 by Champion Motorsports (no longer made) with Bridgestone S04 Tires. You could also check with Rennlist member HawkFan#12 since he is in the process of mounting some 19 x 11 ET56 with 295/30/19 tires.

PCA website, craigslist (go see them in person first), tirerack or order custom wheels from your manufacturer of choice. I'm really leaning towards a new set of HREs flow formed wheels next. I think they are probably the best value available right now. If you order, be prepared to wait, but you do get exactly what you want.
If money is no object, you won't beat HREs forged offerings, but I tend to be a cheapskate for something I'm probably going to curb one day anyway no matter how hard I try to avoid it.
For a Porsche, the OEM offerings are so good, strong and light, it's hard to get something else unless its for aesthetics. I'm strongly considering finding some locally via the PCA ads, rennlist ads, or craigslist ads and having them powder coated locally. I picked up a used set of Boxster wheels for my 944 recently, and I am sanding and repainting them myself. They are scuffed up track wheels.
I found some OZ Ultraleggera's that are pretty nice...as far as the aftermarket goes. There is so much out there but I try to stay with the OEM. Will see where things take me, looks aren't the only thing in on the decision!
Chris
Thats correct. There are many threads here on Rennlist relating to wheels and tires. Many members are not fans of 19" wheels. from what I have read, those that do not recommend 19" are for the following reasons:
1. Most just don't like the look (we all have our opinions).
2. Many say that the lower profile tires give a much stiffer and noisier ride (I have not noticed much difference at all)
3. some say that the 996 was not designed for 19" wheels and that changes to the suspension were made for the 997 to accommodate them. While reading their posts, it appears that the majority of those are related to the added weight so just to be cautious, I compared the weight of the wheels and tires I was looking for to the OEM. Mine are approx 6-7 lbs lighter each even in 19" (wheels, tires and titanium lug nuts).
I have 19x11 rears and 19x8.5 fronts. 295/30/19 rears and 235/35/19 fronts. I just received my tires today. I am taken my Thursday off work to get everything mounted and road force balanced. Then I will mount them on my car (and then will sell my OEM MY02 18's.
If anyone would like a really helpful guide on wheel fitment and spacing/offset, take a look at the link below. It's a comprehensive guide, but easy to understand and follow the basics. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Found a set of 2011 911 turbo rims. I believe it has the following specs. Can the gurus tell me if this will fit a 996 carerra? I know many don't approve the 19s but really like the look, has anyone done this?
8.5Jx19 ET55
235/35ZR19 87Z
11.5Jx19 ET50
305/30ZR19 102Z
