Suggestion

Unless you are having issues with the trans, I would suggest a fluid and electrical plug change, the conductor probably should only be changed when problems arise IMO.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking to service my '02 Tiptronic 722.6 transmission. Where can I find the exact part numbers? Is there anywhere, online, I can enter the VIN and I can see exactly what parts I'm looking for? Will this work: Amazon Amazon Where does a diyer find parts for his new, to him, Porsche? Thanks

POST 2Original post

That would work, but do want to put Chinese knock off parts in. I went to FCP Euro to get my Tip parts with lifetime warranty. And they are all the same Mercedes parts. Any of the bigger websites will have better parts then most of the stuff on Amazon. Amazon is great for certain things, but you really don't know where or how the parts are made. I can't see taking chances with a $7000 plus trans. Just my .02.

POST 3Original post

Maybe try Auto Atlanta (OE Porsche parts). I see they have filter kits, pan gaskets, etc. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p..._911_parts.php

POST 4Original post

$59 for a filter, plus adapter and conductor plate? Chinese and Mercedes electronics dont work well together. Most times they dont even work at all. All of those items should be genuine Mercedes parts, anything else you will more than likely have issues with. Im all in for saving some money, but with Chinese sh#t like this, yiu are throwing money away, and may do damage to the transmission, Unless you are having issues with the trans, I would suggest a fluid and electrical plug change, the conductor probably should only be changed when problems arise IMO.

Agree, or Porsche parts...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok, So I got everything from FCP. I have the pan off and cleaned and I removed the six screws holding the valve plate, but I cannot see or feel the conductor plate connector. So its hanging from the rear right corner. How and from where can I reach the Conductor Plate connector to bring the whole thing down? The only video on you tube is for a Mercedes C-class with tones of room. Thanks in advance -Rick

POST 7Original post

You remove the cable connector from outside the box. Then the conductor with its receptacle can be removed AFTER you do the below. There is a screw at the center of the connector you need to undo before the connector is loose and the conductor plate can drop down. I have forgotten exactly what type of screw, I think it is Allen screw. You need a socket / long tip of a proper type to reach inside the connector hole, unscrew the fastener, and remove it.

Thank's but I can't reach it. I can just barely feel the teeth on the connector with my finger tip. How can I reach it best to loosen the thread with my hand? I only have the care up on jack stands, so I'm on my back trying to reach between all the pipes and cabling.

POST 9Original post

See this picture? This is a picture of the left side (US driver side) of the gearbox. In the center of the picture is a yellowish connector with a little winglet. You twist that winglet counter clockwise to discoonect the cables. See thoses hoses blocking the access? remove those hoses and / or push them out of the way to get access to the connector. You will need it to undo the screw at the very center of the connector. Use a mirror to see what type of fastener that is in there. Now that it is coming back to me, I think it is either a 7 or 8mm hex head.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I see it now. Its tough getting an angle on it from the floor...

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can just barely stick may hand between the pipes and transmission. I can't stick my fingers deep enough into the connector to feel the fastener. It is a 7mm hex head on the replacement i have. My son and I have spent hours trying to get the socket on the head, with no luck... I feel that if I could just get the car further off the ground, I could get a better angle on the damn thing, or If i could get all the hoses out of the way. The manual says "Remove the holders for the coolant hoses." Ha!

POST 12Original post

Just remove the coolant hoses and you will gain a few more inches of clearance. You will spill some coolant and have to refill it. Small price to pay. (I have a lift, so it is a little easier)
