Suggestion

FWIW, I use ATE DOT 4 fluid and alternate between their "gold" and "blue" which makes it super easy to know when you've bled through and have fresh fluid (the color changes!).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How much brake fluid is needed for a complete flush on a 996 C2?

POST 2Original post

I just flushed my Cayenne and it took less than a liter. Going to do the same on my 996 but I think a liter is plenty.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, wanted to check before I ordered some Thanks

POST 4Original post

One liter will just be enough for bleeding all 4 calipers plus the clutch slave cylinder (if you have a 6-speed manual). FWIW, I use ATE DOT 4 fluid and alternate between their "gold" and "blue" which makes it super easy to know when you've bled through and have fresh fluid (the color changes!). This fluid is plenty fine for street use, but you may want something else if you track the car.

Can you still get the blue stuff, or do you have a secret stash of it? Last I knew, the blue stuff had been yanked off the US market because the Feds had declared it "nonconforming" (i.e. illegal).

Pretty sure you can't buy it anymore, in the u.a anyways , had to change to the regular stuff in my still a couple years ago, just flushed fluid in my C4S a couple months ago and liter is fine, I bought another liter to have for topping off.

POST 7Original post

Correct...No Mas on the Blue stuff AFAIK... I just used a quart/liter of the ATE Gold DOT4 bleeding/refilling my clutch line/slave cylinder yesterday (I had removed the line from the slave cylinder to do some "motor out" work).

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
