Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Allow the battery to sit disconnected for 4 hours.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect 4 hours' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check connections' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I needed to use company truck for a few days so when I parked it I decided to put the battery tender on it just so it don't go dead.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

ok guys need some ideas here.
I daily drive my car, and its been great car too.
I have noticed that if I put my battery tender on it after a week of driving it shows its only 52% charged.
alt. is new and so is the Y cable and by the gauge it's almost 14 volts and with code reader it shows good also.
I am looking at a bad Battery?
It's only two years old.
just trying to figure this thing out.
thanks
jeff
Are your battery tender leads connected directly to the battery, or is yours one of the ones that connects through the cigarette lighter? And what model is the charger?
Unless you have a parasitic loss through the alternator, that and the Y cable really shouldn't matter to battery charging and condition while on the battery tender.
When you drive the car, what are the voltmeter readings immediately after start, and after driving 20 min or so?
Take the battery out and have it load tested at a automotive parts place. Most will do it for free. Since the alternator is new and it shows 14V charging, my guess is your battery needs to be replaced. I'm surprised you aren't having starting problems.
Mine is also doing the same thing where the battery is discharging down, like others have suggested most likely its just an old battery. I think mine is the original 2000 one so thats not a surprise in my case
After start up in the morning it stays around the 14 volt mark. Then a 20 mile drive it's about 13.7 or so then any restart the rest of the day it's around 13.7.
I'm going to do a starter soon, slow starting but now I'm wondering if it's not the battery
New parts fail more often then you think. A quick drive to the auto parts store will confirm one way or the other...Process of illumination, start with the common parts first.
Yes, I need new glasses too.
Well I do drive it daily. But also stated it has been slow cranking from time to time. That's why. Was thinking maybe the starter was going bad.

Yes it's driven more than most, I have put 60k miles on my car since august of 2013.
Thanks
Jeff
Get a battery hygrometer from the auto parts place. Allow the battery to sit disconnected for 4 hours. Test the fluid using the hygrometer. Report results.
