Hi there I'm new to 911 ownership, after driving even short distances ie 3 miles when I stop and park, the engine bay is very warm I initially I thought it was the brakes but now I think it's the engine bay.

Praying that the road is now smoother, had a 3.2 tt dsg before so bit of a change the ride on rough roads isn't as good as the tt but it's noticeable quicker!
Leading evidence: 'brakes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'brakes' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace ride' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

All the temperatures in the dials are normal engine temp is right in the middle and all the oil seems fine.
I have read on the forum that this may be a 911 trademark? Being the engine in the rear of the car.... But does anyone think it would be very hot after just 3 miles of slow driving?
Sounds like my car once the engine oil warms up. Stays hot for a while after its been parked too. By the way, you posted this on the 996 forum, you may want to move it to the 997 forum.
working out the kinks can be frustrating. I'm 16 months in and try to blend aesthetic and performance updates along with the mechanical refreshing. Keeps me engaged
I think this is great, in winter the car really heats up very quickly. Same on the airco in summer btw, almost immediately cool.
When I drive home from work, I first need to exit through a gate. Always oil smell, even after couple of hundred yards. First worried, now take a happy breath, it is the 911 parfume I guess!
Cheers for all the replies, puts my mind at rest had some really bad luck already with the car had to have a replacement engine. So big bills already plus needed new coil springs just thought was all sorted then the gear linkage went!!
Praying that the road is now smoother, had a 3.2 tt dsg before so bit of a change the ride on rough roads isn't as good as the tt but it's noticeable quicker! Not sure if I love it yet though certainly get more looks!
The exhaust note is decent enough but lacks a bit of sound unless opened up! But I reckon a louder sports exhaust would become pretty annoying after a while so I think will Stick with the standard setup!
Check out a muffler modification called "Gundo hack" or "fister hack" and try to find someone local to listen to it. It's an affordable exhaust mod that sounds orrery good, not too loud.
