Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good afternoon everyone, so I just made some orders today and can't wait to get everything done when the parts show up. My C2 just rolled over 60K miles as of last week and I did a tune up on her, serpentine belt, oil change, air filters, oil filters, and spark plug replacements. I like the handling with the H&R SS springs but I want more performance and adjustability out of my suspension so after some searching and reading I decided on the H&R coilovers. I will be auto-crossing but she is still my DD. It seemed like they fit the bill for DD and light track duty. The EPS clutch kit I ordered after reading a thread on here and wow, $441 shipped is a great deal for OEM supplier parts and more clutch disc surface area. I do have a question, what bushings should I replace? I will be replacing the shock/strut mounts when doing the coilovers.

POST 2Original post

You're in for a pleasant surprise, the coilovers will really transform the car I've had PSS10's on for almost 2 years now (@-15mm) Consider the H&R 23mm & 26mm upgraded sways and a set of spacers

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13955936

The car does have ECS Tuning spacers on it already, I forget the size as they were on it at the time of purchase. Thank you, I will consider sways!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13956017

Just did that about two weeks ago. I'll be doing the water pump soon as well.

POST 6Original post

I think the correct terminology is serpentine belt.

POST 7Original post

Quotes source posts: 13956301, 13956017

Probably you mean the serpentine belt. These have timing chains...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I assume that's what he meant. Why would I need to mess with timing chains on a 60K mile engine?

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 13956473

That was my joke. You wrote timing belt. The M96 motor does not have a timing belt.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13956498

Sorry, I don't always grammar check. I'm not stupid, you know what I meant. No need to be a dick. It was a typo

POST 11Original post

What we really want to know is which oil do you use? But seriously... where are you located? I'm always hoping to see more 996's at the local AX.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13956546

Whatever Porsche recommends, I'm not an oil expert so I leave that to the pros lol. San Antonio, TX

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 13956512

So I was a dick for posting this? Timing belt?

POST 14Original post

Since you are doing the clutch : RMS -replace with upgrade DMF = measure play AOS - while you have easy access

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 13956473

depends who you talk to, some beleive that's the prime mileage to replace them. http://flat6innovations.com/index.php/engine-failures-illustrated

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 13958112, 13958154

RMS will be done. I'm not doing the AOS, mine is good and I don't need to spend more money atm. Ill read up on that later but I have seen no reasons to give me major concern about them.

POST 18Original post

I have the sp coilovers on my car , very happy with them

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 13958402, 13958473

I bet! Great to hear! I can't believe Pelican sells the for $2,0XX when ECS tuning sells them for $1,687

POST 20Original post

What model year is your car? I may want your takeoff front struts

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13961045

2003 C2

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ready to to the install once I have my Mustang back from the shop.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally got some time to install the coilovers. I forgot to measure ride height before, doh! But I have it sitting at 25" ground to fender lip all around. I want it the lowest I can go but still stay in camber spec on stock strut mounts. Who knows fhe stock ride height of a C2? Install was very simple, and for the rears I didn't remove anything but the sway bar end links. Which are being replaced when I get them in.

POST 26Original post

You new suspension looks great! what is your final ride height? Did you have it aligned and corner balanced yet? How does it drive? How long did the installation take? Did you need any special tools? Sorry for the rapid fire questions. I am going to do this same upgrade. Thanks, Jim

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi fellas, this week I am working on the brake system. I resurfaced the rotors at work and saved myself from buying new ones. Hawk Ceramic Performance pads, SS lines, new sensor leads, and fluid flush are being done. I also replaced the frunk struts. The once the brakes are done, I will be mount the new Conti Extreme Contacts!

POST 28Original post

Looks good. What ride height did you settle on?

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14196534

I have not set the final ride height yet. I want the coils to settle and I am currently working on the brakes.

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone, just thought I would give an update on the car. I took her to German Car Specialist here in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas and I cannot say enough about Berk and his Customer Service. Top notch service. He and his team installed the LN Retrofit IMSB, RMS, EPS Clutch kit, transmission fluid flush, passenger side hard brake line(without removing the fuel tank!), and aligned her within OE Specs. The car drives absolutely beautiful now with the new alignment and current ride height on the HRs.

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 14275914

Sweet I bet it feels amazing, I cannot wait to do mine. Did or are you going to do the suspension bushings?

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14276099

No, I will not being doing he bushings anytime soon. The car only has 66K miles and I've inspected them and the bushings are in great shape.

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14276765

Not the best but here ya go.

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14276929

I have the registration card, I will fill it out abd send it in with the old bearing. I have yet to clean and inspect the old besring but from a intial look it looks to be in good shape. But now I have the peace of mind wifh the LN Retrofit. BTW, check out these alignment specs!

Wow! It looks great! Well done. I plan to do the same with my car. How does it handle? Love the Guards Red with the MY02 wheels and dark tint.

Thank you sir! It handles amazing, very comfortable on the street, planted, stays flat, and crisp response from my inputs.
