Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

BTW the cluster lights could be used via the switches on the cluster BEFORE I had Porsche do the job.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

They solved it after I told them what to look for and they charged me just over $100.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2002 Cab that when i open the door (either one) the interior lights don't come on until the key is in the ignition. Is this NORMAL??

POST 2Original post

No, the interior lights should come on as you unlock the door via the key manually or via the push button and should stay lit until you switch on the ignition. As you switch off the car agin they should come on and go off as you close the door to lock the car. Make sure that the toggle switches on the light cluster is set in the correct position.

i have a couple threads about this as I have an 02 and have had the same issue since I bought it. I went through all of the wiring and fuses in the car and everything is good. Last thing for me to do is stop by the stealership but that won't happen. It's my interior lights, engine lid light, and frunk light. I guess I have just gotten used to it.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Same as mine Hawkfan, it's a PITA.

POST 5Original post

I have the same issue with my 1999 C2 and have tried to diagnose a fault in swiches or wiring but unable to find the cause. On an earlier thread someone suggested that the ecm or immobilizer is in transportation mode and can only be reset at the Dealer. The fact that the interior lights dont come on when I open yhe door hasnt bothered me enough to pay the outrageous price the Porsche Dealer probably will charge.

POST 6Original post

Yeah, I had heard that as well. I mentioned it to an Indy and was told that transportation mode did not take effect until the 997.

POST 7Original post

Mine was still in sports car transportation mode when I first got it 6 years ago. The inside doors lights, the cluster and the petrol door were not working. I tried for a year to solve it. Another poster told me about the transportation mode and I took it to Porsche in Lancaster PA. They solved it after I told them what to look for and they charged me just over $100. All faults have worked since. So its not a big job for them to put the computer back into normal driving mode. BTW the cluster lights could be used via the switches on the cluster BEFORE I had Porsche do the job.
