Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
It seems if I'm going to run just a straight header with o2 sensor at the header and one at the tips.

Suggestion
I remember speaking with AWE a number of years ago regarding headers for my 99 and was told that they do not make them and they would not sell me the set for the 3.6L because they have not performance tested them on a 3.4L and didn't want to have a dissatisfied customer and product.

Suggestion
They were very honest in their conversation regarding testing of their products and believed that the 3.6L headers would compromise performance on the 3.4L.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

AWE
I'm really happy with the AWE's. The speedtech headers fit well, had thick flanges and good welds. The AWE's are just in a different class though. The flanges are thicker, primary tubes are longer, and the collectors are true collectors.
Very interesting. I remember speaking with AWE a number of years ago regarding headers for my 99 and was told that they do not make them and they would not sell me the set for the 3.6L because they have not performance tested them on a 3.4L and didn't want to have a dissatisfied customer and product. Funny, unlike some companies who claim their headers are the same model for the 3.4, 3.6 and GT3...
Good luck. Sounds like they may have had a prototype sitting on their self, which is awesome...
The speedtechs had a bit of burble at low rpms that the AWE's don't have. The AWE's have a smoother sound in the low rpm's and are a little crisper sounding in the upper half of the tach. I run cat bypass x-pipe and speedtech mufflers so the car is loud. These headers seem to be just a little quieter than the same setup with the old headers.
They look great. I'm starting to do something with my stock exhaust. I think I'm going to start with headers. My question is, will most aftermarket headers bolt to the rest of the original exhaust.
Yes headers will bolt to stock exhaust.
Do your homework before you buy a set of headers.
996 headers run from $139 - $2000.
Some are made by the same vendor and rebranded, there is one vendor selling to 4 different performance brand names, and yes a $700 spread in price, same header .
You can actually copy jpeg resize and see the same weld pops and tubing bends in the photos.
Before you buy, ask the seller country of origin? They have to tell you if you ask.
They may state, made with German steel, then not tell you where that German steel was sent to be manufactured into exhaust parts.
Thailand, China and Japan produces a lot of headers, cats and mufflers that are sold under Italian and German brand names.
Go for long primary tube and a proper collector.

Wow, Great at information David. I've noticed exactly what your talking about online with pricing. It seems if I'm going to run just a straight header with o2 sensor at the header and one at the tips. Then Ill properly spring for a good set, something with equally length bends with The least welding. Something like you say with a good collector. Then I'll have a muffler shop do the rest. I like the ideas of the sport bike silencer also mentioned above.
Make sure there is a return policy!
I purchased a set of headers along with CAI. From a very well known performance company in England.
Those %%$## &&^^_, actually photo shopped the pictures of thier primary tubes on thier headers.
They arrived at my home and 1 tube on each bank with a weld seem where it had been pieced in before the collector.
I used thier own photos to force a return via my PayPal account.
It still cost me $140 in return shipping, lesson learned.
