The second time I wanted to buy a set of their replica GT3 wheels (for street use) but by the time Eli finally got back to me, so much time had passed that I had bought another set of wheels.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So just wanted to share. I contacted them through their website about a specific wheel they had advertised for $1299 for the set of 4 on their website. Eli replied the next day and assured me they would fit perfect on my NB 996 and they were only $1899. I replied with a screen shot of their website showing $1299. He replied and stated he got them mixed up with another set. No big deal, he assured me $1299 was correct. So I asked what the package (wheels/tires/bolts/shipped) would be. I didn't hear back so I private messaged wheel dynamics on rennlist. I heard back a few days later with details and tires would be $750. No other info on the tires than that. So I asked for the tire information (brand/size) and informed them I did not want any stretch to the tires. So a week later, still no tire info although I have asked for it repeatedly. I even contacted Eva and she got back to me right away, but still no tire info. Customer Service means the world to me. So based on this experience I will pay more somewhere else and never use Wheel Dynamics for anything in the future.

POST 2Original post

Bummer. I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences with them. Always prompt with good information.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I realize other people have had good experiences which is what I was expecting, and is probably why I am so let down by the experience. I know $750 is cheap for tires, which is why I asked for the specifics. I don't want some cheap piece of crap tire on my car. 😜

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 14243742

^That^ would depend on what type, brand and size of tire you're talking about...

POST 6Original post

I like buying custom wheels myself. I always spec my own tires on tirerack and have them went to my local installer. Get exactly what you want.

POST 7Original post

+one for good service. Sad to hear the ball may have been dropped, but who knows why he hasn't gotten back to you in a timely manner but hey, life happens to all of us. Good luck anywhere you go if you do not decide to give him another chance.

+1 on this ... I also like to spec my own tires. Nothing against Wheel Dynamics or Tire Rack, but I'm not crazy about the idea of buying a pre-mounted wheel/tire combo. I prefer to go to a local specialist who has quality balancing equipment (e.g. Road Force) and knows how to use it. If you ask around a little, it's usually pretty easy to find out where people with high performance cars get their tire and wheel work done in your area. It might cost a little more to get tires mounted and balanced by a good local shop, but the difference is a fraction of the total cost. And if anything isn't just right, I want to be able to go back and get it made right.

POST 9Original post

I say, buy the wheels you like, research the tires for your driving style, weather, and other criteria you may be looking for, shop that tire on the internet for price (got to be careful about tire production date on cheaper web prices) then go to your chosen tire shop and have them get a price. You may find that they will negotiate the price when you tell them what you can get them for. That's what I did and got the tires from the shop at the same price as The Tire Rack (less shipping) and was able to verify production date before they installed.

POST 10Original post

I had a very good experience with Wheel Dynamics and would use them again. Got a good price on the refurbished wheels I bought and a decent price on the crappy chromes that came on the car. I had them take the new tires I just bought off the chromes and mount and balance them on the new wheels. Everything worked out fine. Had a marble cleaner do a great job in my bathroom and my entry hall, and then screw up my kitchen counter top. Stuff happens.

POST 11Original post

My experience with Wheel Dynamics was similar to yours Hawk, though I didn't put as much effort into it as you have. I just marked them off my list of potential vendors.

POST 12Original post

Tire Rack has been doing road force balancing for at least 20 years. Never had an issue with buying wheel/tire combos there.

Was thinking the same thing. Usually they are pretty responsive to threads...

POST 15Original post

My experience with Wheel Dynamics was very good. Sorry you had a bad experience. I paid less than $750 for all four tires delivered to my door from Tire Rack, SUMITOMO HTR Z III - great tires as far as I'm concerned.

I am not surprised. Par for the course with my experience. They must have to much business they don't have time to reply to people.

POST 17Original post

Or maybe an illness in the family or some other emergency etc...

POST 18Original post

Suggest you do a search on Wheel Dynamics and fast forward wheels and see why they were banned as sponsors on 6SpeedOnline.

POST 19Original post

My two experiences with Wheel Dynamics were not satisfactory. The first time I contacted them through RL, I never heard back from them. The second time I wanted to buy a set of their replica GT3 wheels (for street use) but by the time Eli finally got back to me, so much time had passed that I had bought another set of wheels. There are too many other businesses out there that are eager to earn your business.

POST 20Original post

Obsessed with getting a set of those OS Design Wheels. Have tried Email no answer yet. Phoned, spoke to a lady on phone.. she took number and email addy still no response. I want! Cash in hand..

POST 21Original post

i had similar experience. I took my business to tirerack.

Got some specific links? That's a pretty bold statement, but my google-fu and searching of 6spd don't return anything relevant.

Thanks. My take is that in the first link no reputable wheel shop would weld wheels meant for a high performance car, but it's the seller that knew and didn't disclose that is really to blame there. Great he "feels" bad and "took a loss", but he could quite literally have been responsible for killing someone! The second link isn't really a complaint, just referencing a complaint (you're first link?). The last link definitely speaks against the reputation too. Wow indeed. Thinking I need to pull those Carrera IIs off and give them a good look now

POST 27Original post

I wonder why the thread in the third link just dies off. The OPs last post states he will never rest, never stop, until he gets every last dime out of Eli ! And then...nothing... no updates... Did Eli "take care" of the problem? I guess we will never know.

It's beyond me why anyone would essentially be begging a business to take their money when the business won't give the simple courtesy of a timely reply. Take your business elsewhere. If you want Fuchs-type wheels, try Braidusa.com or Fiske. Both are reputable businesses who make the kind of Fuchs look-alike wheels you are seeking.

i was wondering the same thing. Dude hasn't logged in since he made that post, hope he didn't receive some lead quiet pills.

POST 31Original post

I also had problems with them. They were selling rims that they didnt have in stock (even though they are on their site & also on ebay), told me that they would take months to get them in but it was possible to get some "display" models from other sites. I made it very clear if they were not brand new I would not accept them, they assured me no issues. Anyway weeks later I got them 3 of the 4 were not new, one had clearly been mounted and still had antiseeze on it, the other 2 had minor scratches. I contacted them and complained, they offered to take them back and they would quickly find a home for them so yeah I wont deal with them again either
