Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2002 996 cab has been sitting for several years and I need to drain the 1/8 tank of fuel (varnish I'd like to do that by accessing the tank through the port where the fuel sender is located, but I can not find said access port. Really appreciate specific direction on likely location. Seems as though I've looked flipping everywhere. any other suggestions (or direction to existing threads) on what I should do before crossing my fingers and turning the key ? I've already changed the oil and with new battery, all systems look normal when I turn key to position 1

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I'm starting to feel a bit better about not being able to find it. 61 views and no one yet knows.

POST 3Original post

The fuel level sender is inside the fuel tank. Why do you need to access it? Just disconnect the fuel line in the engine compartment (upper left quick connect) and jump the fuel pump relay to pump the fuel out, then maybe add a gallon to the tank and flush that out too.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for that suggestion. Reason I asked was that I was reading here that the best way to drain the tank was to remove the fuel level sender where it is fastened through the tank and go into the tank there. Super easy to see it on my 912, but no where to be found on my 996.
