Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have removed the AC, installed an RSS pulley and will soon remove the power steering pump. Im putting in a true manual steering rack. So I am following LN Engineerings advice as seen on their website for re-routing a shorter belt when you install electric power steering. the picture they have on their site shows a shorter belt with the tensioner pulley before the crank on the push side. So the grooves in the belt are riding on a smooth tensioner pulley. I dont trust this. Does anyone know of a grooved pulley that will fit on the tensioner for the M96 engine?

POST 2Original post

It's perfectly fine, grooved belts run on flat pulleys on all sorts of cars. My Cayenne runs a grooved belt on a flat pulley on the water pump and idler. All VR6 powered cars run grooved belts on flat pulleys on the water pump and power steering pump.

I got it, I also posted this question on FB and a lot of guys including Flat Six Innovations chimed in and said basically the same thing so Ill call it good.
