Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It also is the color they used on the owners manual that year.
Leading evidence: 'Use on the owners manual' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'best $200 you could spend' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean system' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

You'll think it was the best $200 you could spend on the car.....

I know this is a 996 board, and I'll probably get lynched for saying it, but so many advances have been made from the MY '99 911 that the Cayman is at worst a lateral move, and is more likely an upward move.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Surely that did not help keep the paint color intact.
This is the color that they used in all of the early 1999 intro to the 996 literature. It also is the color they used on the owners manual that year. You would think with Zenith Blue being their featured color that year that you would see more of them out there. On the contrary. I have never seen another one in person.
Beautiful car! It's about time somebody got one of these in something other than seal grey
I'm suprised at how few blue cars there are out there anymore, and that color looks perfect!
I really wanted a 911 that was nor black, silver or red. If I go to a Porsche get together, it is likely I will have the only Zenith Blue car there. Even at bigger PCA events, that is the case. If I have a blck, silver or red car, I am likely to be one of many exactly like mine. I really like it and I get a ton of compliments on the color specifically.
I have zenith blue - will post pics tomorrow
I have bi-xenons and clear side markers which are are a good mod for the colour
I'm actually considering selling it to buy a cayman - its got 42,000 miles
Why do you want to step down?? Always trade up I can see you wanting a 996 TT but a cayman Please explain this, I really am curious of your thought process
i like the idea of a turbo - always wanted one since boyhood
but I like RWD and a GT2 is out of the question!
I also like the two seater compactness of my old boxster and the chuckability of mid-engine
oh well, i think i'm just a bit flummoxed right now
Moving from a '99 996 to an '06 Cayman is not a step down, IMHO. I know this is a 996 board, and I'll probably get lynched for saying it, but so many advances have been made from the MY '99 911 that the Cayman is at worst a lateral move, and is more likely an upward move. An '05-'06 997 to an "06 Cayman is a step down, yes, maybe even from an '02 - 04 996 to a Cayman, but a '99 996 to a Cayman is not.
OK. I'm going to bed now, so try not to flame me so bad I won't get up in the morn.
Ouch Palting....you may very well get it for that comment. So, by that logic you are saying that the 02 996 is leaps and bounds better than the 99 996?
Not sure they are even comparable. But, having a 996 and a 987 you can probably speak from personal experience so I will defer to you as more of a trusted authority on the comparison. I mean that as a compliment by the way (just in case it comes across in cyberland as sarcasm or the '01 La Crema showing up in my typing

First, thanks for not killing me
.
You're absolutely right. They are not the same cars. Apples and oranges. Comparing them comes into play only when you're shopping for a Porsche and not quite sure which one and which driving experience you want. I just repsonded to the comment that it was a stepdown to the Cayman.
Didn't mean to hijack the thread. Nice pics!!!!
My 1999 C2 Cab is Zenith Blue.
Can I join your small but exclusive club?
I've modded it a little:
Factory Turbo Front & Rear Bumpers
Headlight update
Clear side markers
FVD Hood
Techart style turbo sideskirts
Misha GT-2 Wing
Gemballa Competition 18" Wheels
PSS-9 Suspension
Pics are coming soon...
Is the Cayman a step down? It depends on your criteria. It's faster around the 'ring than a 997 Carrera, so if ultimate performance is your stick, than a Cayman is a step up even from a new-gen Carrera. However, in terms a stature/prestige/heritage, a 911 is a 911, and the Cayman is not

I wont flame anyone, yet some good points I still cant see a caymen in my future..maybe my wifes but not mine.I agree its a quick little car..key word little there folks.I say the new caymen at the dealer and i will say it was a pretty good looking car better then i thought it was from the pictures. And if track times were so important ,the deciding factor then who would even look at the Porsche when the new ZO6 is faster and cheaper. And BTW if i were to own a blue car it would have to be Zenith Blue..Awsome
My son and I picked up this 2002 C4S in Zenith Blue. It was optioned as a paint to sample. I think it was an extra 4300$. So far, we love the car. Need to do a few maintenance items in next year.
My son and I replaced the weathered console, shift ****, emergency brake handle, a number of switches, the horseshoe trim and a new LCD screen for the climate controls. We are happy with the results.
Ari, beautiful 996! Love it! Interesting how your color is darker. Your car probably sat in a garage a lot. The car my son and I bought sat in the hot sun in Tennessee. Surely that did not help keep the paint color intact.
Giorginetto-- thanks for the note. Those trim pieces are just decorative. They must have been part of the C4S package. They are just thin aluminum pieces riveted to bumper cover.
Thank you
I have had car about 6 months now. I don`t know about garage when it was in japan, but here in Finland it has been in garage during winter. Just before those pics were taken, car was professionally machine polished and waxed. I know that it seems bit dark in those pics, but in diffrent light its lighter. Bumpers and mirror covers were repainted because previous owner ruined lacquer with a pressure washer.
I hate to necro this thread, but this car is insane. Is this the only known ZBM C4s? I wish ZBM was a more popular color on the 996 in the US as it is my favorite blue, by far, from Porsche. I'd ideally like to own a ZBM 996, but they seemingly almost never come up for sale.
You've got a really special car here, I'm envious.
