Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced the turn signal and adjusted the low beam this week and promptly noticed a clank from the passenger side front suspension the next day...when I take care of that, I'm sure the other side will start clanking.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Clean out the drains and your interior will not get wet. Car drains, who wooda thunk? Doesnt matter where you park, someone will park next to you. Seriously!! I am much better looking inside my car. Do not down shift into 5th at over a 148 mph. Read this in the manual. There is a Porsche tax on everything you buy for a Porsche. Other drivers tend to speed up when they are driving next to you. Not having a cup holder in your Porsche is a first world problem. Bought a pair of Ultimate Cup Holders. I still get into the car with my keys in my right hand. Every time. The New Official "Things you didnt know about your 996" thread is worth reading. My wife doesnt know how fast we are going unless she is paying attention. I need a lot more practice on my heal toe work. Weight transfer is not entirely obvious to me yet, havent taken her to the track yet. And amazingly I havent decided that she doesnt need to be faster yet. On ramps have become something to look forward to. I arrive at work in a much better mood after my commute with the top down. Windscreens are a good investment. The roll bars pop up if you get airborne. Again I read that one in the manual. I am developing an uncontrollable urge to do things/buy things for my Cab. I frickin searched for Porsche sunglasses for Petes sake..

POST 2Original post

Great observations LDMF, especially always having keys in your right (wrong) hand.

POST 3Original post

Point # 3 is gospel! And, it'll take a year or two, but I now hop in all cars with keys in my left hand. Enjoy the ride. T

POST 4Original post

Great summation LDMF of Porsche ownership. Where in the 'burgh' do you live? I was there in the early 70s after college.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I live south of the burgh, Peters Township. It is just over the border in Washington County. I did live just down east of you in Bah-ha-bah, 20 years ago. Love Maine.

POST 6Original post

I met a guy from Peters Township. He name was Harry Peters. I kid you not! hahahahahaha

Didn't know this as I've never owned a cabrio before. Wonder if the rear hoops will also deploy if you drive through standing water like the Volvo's. I hope Porsches roll hoop design doesn't interfere with the hardtop like the Volvo's. LOL. Complete Fail on their part.

Carry your keys in your left pocket

POST 9Original post

If you are not spending a thousand dollars a month on you car you are just not trying hard enough. OR your car is not breaking down on a proper schedule.

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 13562273

Stated otherwise, you are going to have to shift into 6th if you want to go faster than ~150MPH (the speedo displays 150 at/near redline in 5th, but that's probably just the damn speedo being optimistic as usual). You may find that the uncontrollable sphincter spasms will render you incapable of / unwilling to grabbing 6th. I did.

Ahhh, this is why you wear a racing suit, to alleviate the stains on the leather seats.

I'm not spending thousands a month, but something is always breaking down. I replaced the turn signal and adjusted the low beam this week and promptly noticed a clank from the passenger side front suspension the next day...when I take care of that, I'm sure the other side will start clanking. But, it's too late, I'm hooked. I keep on thinking I should sell before something serious happens. But what am I going to replace her with? And then I slightly gravitate towards an E46 M3 of E39 M5 and then I'm like WTF are you thinking, cuz those are so reliable

POST 14Original post

All accurate!!...... Especially the keys in the right hand every damn time! I am constantly poking at the dash!

POST 15Original post

Actually, not entirely accurate... Roll bars do not deploy when you get airborne, only when you land

POST 16Original post

• 2nd gear is pretty much exactly 100:1 RPM:MPH. (2000 RPM = 20 MPH) • Shifting into 1st while rolling is a routine necessity. (In my BMWs, it was next to impossible, or at least distressing.)

POST 17Original post

DOH you updated that before I could pick on you Yep the Z4 I had 1st was so low it almost felt like the granny gear in the 1942 pickup. I hated that gear ratio on the Bimmer. Marc

POST 19Original post

Nice list. Also can't park it and walk away from it without looking back at least once.
