Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I saw a pair come up for sale on the classifieds some time ago, I did some research on them and thought that they looked great. The guy sold them almost immediately. About a month ago another pair came up for sale, I bought them immediately for $200 plus $30 for shipping. Used them for the first time today, I thought they were specifically for the 911, but no, any Porsche jack point has the same configuration, used them on the 951, OMG, so easy to get the car up on the jack stands AND SO STABLE once up there. Then jacked one side of the car up after doing the front, there is a point in the middle of the rocker panel, was checking the exhaust, just put it in there vs. a jack without a jack stand. Feel like I just added 10 years to my life! Here it is installed, holding the car up, then you just slide your jack into the opening and jack up the jack. Jack it up and the resting disc comes off the jack stand: Slide the jack stand out: Then let the car down....if it's the last jack stand coming out, I have to use another jack to catch the car when it's almost all the way down, because there isn't enough clearance for the low profile jack and the jack stand base. So Easy, So Safe! More pictures here: http://www.jackpointjackstands.com/Home_It_Works.html

POST 2Original post

I bought a set when I started working on my car. My neighbor borrows them to work on his Mini. He is a firefighter and had been first responder to several "car on top of person" injuries caused by a vehicle coming off its jacks. He and I are both impressed with the Jackpoint product. Incidentally, I use s Harbor Freight low-profile jack and it works perfectly with these jackstands.

POST 3Original post

Bought a set not long after getting my 996 and love them. I have NEVER been comfortable under a vehicle with jack stands until I got these. I was under the car for a while today doing a little routine maintenance - it's just so easy with these. I have the low profile HF jack and it slides under with no problem, but my car is not lowered. POST 6Original post

These are awesome Makes me feel a lot safer if I every have to roll under the car....

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 12408155

Ahh, thank you. I was just thinking each model would have separate specs ssince the height is different

POST 8Original post

I think the stands are all the same - the difference is in the pad. It looks like Paul's is for a pinch weld jack point. The ones I got are shorter and flat with a small divet to take the aluminum pin.

POST 9Original post

First I have seen of these, a pretty sweet system.

POST 10Original post

They seem nice but they are adjustable as far as height?

POST 11Original post

No they do not adjust. There are definitely times that I've wanted more clearance however their unadjustable solidity is part of what makes them so safe.

POST 12Original post

These jack stands do seem like a great design, but they don't lift the car very high. I can't see using them for any work underneath a 996. I have 19" high jack stands and that's barely enough room to do anything under the car.

POST 13Original post

These are highly recommended for adjustables. http://www.tooltopia.com/esco-10498.aspx

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 12409472

Nice jack stand but you still have find a good jack point to place these in the correct location.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 12409970

what is so difficult about that? far more versatile than JP.

POST 17Original post

I don't like jacking on suspension points but end up placing the stands on them because I am jacking on the lift points. It would be nice to have a solid rear jacking point to make it easier to rest car on stands.

POST 18Original post

I like the idea of those stands, but as others mentioned, I need stands that are high enough to be able to work under the car when it's up. The jack point stands are far too low to be functionally equivalent to my old-school jack stands. OP, if you drove one corner up on a 1x1' piece of plywood, would that give you enough extra clearance to not need to use the second jack? That sounds like the part of the process where something could go wrong...

POST 19Original post

I have a pair and they are great! I put one 2x4 under a rear tire so my low profile jack will clear with the jackpoint top part. Once it's jacked up I place a tripod stand under the front jack point and lower the jackpoint jackstand top onto the base. I don't need the 2x4 for the other side. I'm using the smaller (lower) profile pad top. Jack the car up twice and its securely up off all 4. It's high enough that I've done coils/plugs, water pump/thermostat, brake fluid flush, and oil changes. It is so quick, easy, and stable.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12410849

Do you have a picture of this? I don't get where you are jacking it and how many times to get it up off four wheels. Thanks!

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 12411433

I jack the car from the rear with the jackpoint jackstand disc on the jack (tire rested on a 2x4). When I raise the rear the front goes up high enough to place the tripod stand under it. I place the tripod stand under the front jack point then lower the jackpoint jackstand disc onto the base in the rear. Repeat for the other side for a total of two lifts. Take a couple of minutes and it is solid with all 4 off! Really a great thing.

POST 22Original post

We have a set and have used them on multiple cars. Very sturdy and confidence inspiring.

POST 23Original post

I think he drives so that the tire is on the 2x4, which then gives him clearance for his jack. Then, since the chassis is so rigid, once one corner of the car is up, he can get the tripod jack under the jack point of the car.

POST 24Original post

Started my reply, got distracted, came back to it only to see JohnnyRocker's explanation

POST 25Original post

The bases are not adjustable but it is possible to get slightly more height with different pads. The recessed pads can be stacked 2 high plus the pad used immediately under the chassis. Also, using 1 pair of stands results in about 20" of clearance at the lifted end of the car.

POST 27Original post

I like the design of the Jack Point jackstand system but am also concerned about clearance. Has anyone tried Race Ramp system components and can provide feedback? http://www.raceramps.com/full-vehicle-lift-ramps.aspx

$1549 for the 16" restyler? That's close to lift money. And what if you don't want the wheels on?

POST 30Original post

At the front, as seen in this picture, you can use the car frame to lift the car; hence, leave the car's jack point free for your jackstand: DSCF0618.JPG Sorry for the size of that picture. The hockey puck over the jackstand is shaved half-way and the mid-part of the puck is formed to adapt to the car jackpoint. This jack is also low-profile enough to slide under without any props.

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 12469960

Yeah - I wasn't looking at anything that heavy duty. I was thinking more for oil changes, not brake jobs or suspension changes. I'm also curious if you could use something like that is a flood threat occurred, but that's just paranoia. I do like the u-shaped device to protect your tires when storing the car for the winter. I'm curious if it's effective or any better than scraps of thick carpet. I have the Sumitomo III and have read they flat spot easily in storage.

POST 32Original post

Those jack lifts look great. Can I get some thoughts on what tool I should use to jack the car up? I have what you'd optimistically call a 1.5 car garage. I've got about 2 ft of clearance on each side of the car, a little bit more if I play musical vehicles. Pic below. I think floor jacks are out of the question (I'll still buy one for lowering the engine). I think I'm going to go with a hydraulic bottle jack. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks in advance.

POST 33Original post

I want this but will have to wait until I can justify the cost http://ezcarlift.com/index.html Click on the photo album and then Porsche...you can see how they work. Currently I have four regular jack stands and I have never felt uncomfortable under the car with those. Those stands look pretty stable but I usually need the car up much higher than those look like they will go.

POST 34Original post

Joe... this instead of the ezcar thang.... https://www.eagleequip.com/product/M...HHZhoCQKfw_wcB

POST 35Original post

I'm not sure if you have the clearance to get getting bottle jacks underneath it. You almost have room for a good low profile floor jack turned at an angle.

POST 36Original post

just make a rising wood base for the jackpoint stands to get more clearance.

POST 38Original post

I bought my JackPoint jack stands from the manufacturer full price and have never been happier! They are perfect for simple maintenance and, in my opinion, put the car higher in the air than it looks. I was skeptical on height until I used them. Even leaves room to scoot around on a "low-rider" creeper. Wished I would have known about the "log procedure" above prior to purchase...not!

POST 39Original post

Quotes source post: 13539113

Yeah, I was actually thinking about the ones from Bendpak because you can drive over those. These look like you might have to scoot them in from the side? If so, I think it would be a delicate operation - and I don't really have the space to put in anywhere.. I'd need to keep it under the car in the garage. DBJoe, that would be ideal, but not in the garage I have now. For me it would be a pain to get the bikes in and out. Not to mention I'd probably ding the door at some point. Slakker, good call on the clearance. I'll be sure to measure the height of the jack point and compare it to the the height of the jack. I just don't think there's clearance for the floor jack unless there's one where you can turn the handle portion so that it's more parallel with the car. I think the perspective of the picture is making the garage look bigger than it is. Worse comes to worse, I'm just going to have to use my parents two car garage to do maintenance. It'll suck if I can't finish something in day, which is very likely with my forgetful mind...I'll probably forget something like the crush washer on an oil change or something.
