This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Everyone. My factory alarm goes off intermittently and the computer shows it being caused by the passenger door. I would assume that the door switch need to be replaced? Has anyone else had a problem with this in the past? Thank you! -T.J.

POST 2Original post

The micro switches in the door handles are a known problem on these cars, if you search there have been loads of threads on this ok

There is more in the passenger door than a switch or two. When my Boxster's security system acted up and the door window acted funny -- failing to drop when the door was opened or worse dropping but then after the door was up going back up again -- it proved to not be a switch but the passenger door lock controller, a rather large plastic/alum enclosure with some electronics and some mechanical hardware in it. The door switches were fine. The tech reported the alarm system supplied error codes that pointed to the door lock controller but he did some tests once the door card was removed and these eliminated the door switches (one at the handle and the other at the door latch) and confirmed the door lock controller was the problem.

Macster, thank you for the info. I'll look into the door lock controller. Do you do the replacement yourself?

No I did not do the replacement myself. I had it done at the dealer. (I was never that excited about working on interior hardware. I had no problem with working on the engine and drive train and suspension but just never warmed up to working on interior hardware.) However, others have done this repair/replacement and there are DIY articles/write ups but I have no link to any. A search should turn up the links though. And the Pelican site might have write up on this too.
