Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My oldest son just used the same kit on his Toyota .

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Plenty of DIYs on this. Wet sand from 800 grit up to 2000 to 3000 in graded steps, compound and polish and then apply PPF to the lens. I did this about 2 years ago and they still look great and are protected against any rock strikes etc.
I used that kit last year on a 2010 Volvo XC90 . Easy to follow instructions and great results . My oldest son just used the same kit on his Toyota . Same great results . Available at Walmart and most auto parts stores . You know when you have sanded enough when the soapy water and sandpaper just glide across the lense . If you feel ANY resistance you need to keep sanding . You have to get ALL the clearcoat off for the lense to be crystal clear .
I bought Lamin-X and it is very thick.
After I installed it I think with the highly raked angle of the 996 headlight it is not a good choice as I felt my headlights went from totally acceptable brightness to "only acceptable on high beams".
Your mileage may vary.
Unless the lens is 100% & thickly hazed over I dont believe it shades the light much. My brother looked at mine tonight and they appeared very bright. Mine are only half tarnished though.
maybe we just need it to be cosmetically attractive?
Ill do mine anyway.
I don't use PPF on my 986 or 996 headlights . After wet sanding I then polish with plastic specific polish/cleaner . Once I am happy with the results I hit them with wax . Every 3-4 months I give them a quick polish with the plastic polish . And another coat of wax . My lenses are crystal clear and light output is great .
My cars are both parked inside so my method may not work well for a daily driver left outside . And my method won't protect against rock chips . It's good that we have options .
[QUOTE=glennj3cub;20317635]How to repair the lens when they appear to have peeled off. Half hazy half clear. I dont understand this. Anyone else have this issue.
I have the whole light assembly for the passenger side that I can sell you. If youre interested, make an offer!
Great kit. I did one light with a 3M kit that went from 500 to 800 to 2000 to 3000
this one starts with a antioxidant wipe then 800 to 2000 to 3000 and gives you the protectant.
Indistinguishable results between the 2 and the 500 step on the 3M added a material amount of time and work.
I also found that working by hand as opposed to connecting the pads to the drill bit included with the 3m was much more effective.
