LN Engineering Billet Oil filter for IMS Solution car

Hi Everyone, https://lnengineering.com/products/p...r-106-35a.html Has anyone bought one of these? Do they sit belong the cross member / standard sump. Ie are they exposed to being 'knocked' or hit by anything? With recent talk about certain filters collapsing under pressure I wonder if this would be a sensible addition or not. Cheers

Before I would buy one, I need to know what the Absolute rating is at 60 microns. hopefully someone from L&N lets us know, no info on the website.

What do you mean by "absolute rating is at 60 microns"? I'm interested as I have the IMS Solution on an FSI Stage I rebuild. I've been changing my oil every 6mo and would love to simplify things just a bit.

IMO, because of the size of the filter for ground clearance, they had to sacrifice the micron rating for the flow of engine oil, here is some good info on filter ratings. this set-up may not even be recommended for everyday street use. 5 to 20 micron particles cause the most engine damages. Nominal Rating Nominal ratings represent the average particle size that a filter is expected to capture efficiently. It indicates the filter's ability to retain a significant portion of particles at a specified size but does not guarantee the capture of all particles above that size. For example, a filter with a nominal rating of 10 microns means that it can efficiently capture a substantial portion of particles that are 10 microns or larger, but it may allow smaller particles to pass through. Benefits of using Nominal Filters Lower Cost: Nominal filters are often more affordable than absolute filters due to their less strict standards. Less Restrictive: Nominal filters are less restrictive in terms of flow rate as they allow for a certain percentage of larger particles to pass through the media. Ideal for Large Particles: Nominal filters are ideal for applications that have large particles that need to be removed. Absolute Rating Absolute ratings, on the other hand, provide a more precise measure of a filter's filtration efficiency. Thanks for the info! I was concerned about use with stock sump. Their response was: Yes the 106-35A will work with the stock sump and IMS Solution filter adapter. While we do not have specific flow rates given all the variables, the makers of the filter elements did let us know that they out flow the standard paper filter by about 7 fold, with very little differential pressure while matching or exceeding the OEM filtration performance.

These billet filters are intended for track use, where we want to maximize flow over filtration, however the integral magnet will catch smaller fine debris. I would not recommend using this setup on the street or any kind of longer oil change interval. Ground clearance is not an issue for track use as it's designed to be paired with the 2 quart deep sump and our sump guard.
