Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used a short length of 2 x 4 under the oil pan, it spreads the load.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone have an photo of the circled area of where this hose line is connected. I can't see back there on the top of my engine so I'm just going by feel. This is off my 2004 911 carrera. I got great help a couple weeks ago with this picture from uguys but the line pulled off further. Thanks everyone.

POST 2Original post

The rubber vacuum connector just pushes directly on. No clamps.

POST 3Original post

this is the only shot Ive got handy -Eric

POST 4Original post

Heres a shot I found off of an eBay listing for the vacuum actuator (made by Pierburg):

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all your help. Now I have to try and blindly fit the end of the hose to that fitting. Good luck to me. Any ideas to help this procedure without removing anything major would be appreciated. Thanks MB

POST 6Original post

Remove throttle body and front plenum. Loosen the clamps on the rear plenum and spin it around so you can see where the vacuum hose attaches. Then spin it back around and tighten the clamps. Don't forget there is also a vacuum line that attaches to the front plenum.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks DB. I only have around an inch or so above the plenum and still can't really see it, but this will help some.

Lower the engine by loosening the engine mounts. That will get you some more room.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll try that. Is that all I have to loosen is the mounts?

Support the engine with a jack underneath. Loosen the motor mount nuts underneath. Leave the nuts with about 3 or 4 threads left. Lower the engine carefully. That will give you room. Be very careful where you place the jack so it doesn't slip. I used a short length of 2 x 4 under the oil pan, it spreads the load.
