Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I dont have the car back yet to report however but, I do recall Brandon saying that the crossovers were what he recommended vs the xpipe.

Find a resource that discusses the effects on engine power when changing from a traditional exhaust to an exhaust with an X-pipe.

How did the power delivery thru the rev range change when you added the FSI xpipe and then the FSI headers?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am mulling FVD x-pipe 200 cell cats v flat sixs x-pipe cat. Both represent the same increase in hp/torque. Do x-pipes increase cabin noise?

I have the Flat 6 X-pipe. I didn't have any cabin noise increase. But it's a cab and already noisy. Very noticeable engine response improvement. This is the only X-pipe I've owned.
FVD/MM makes excellent exhaust systems. At last years prices, i would buy mine all over again. But pricing is out of control this year, making Soul and FSI very attractive options.
I wasn't aware of SOUL until this thread. I will be watching for them.
We're getting snow this week so she's going on jack stands with the CTEK trickle feeder connected under the cover and we'll be dreaming of Montana roads in 2026 over the winter.
I'll figure out who I'm going with and shoot a note to Santa. The good news is everyone knows who Santa is at my house.
Is it ok if I like the deeper tone of the crossover? /s
Great comparison video. I like the price number - they're on sale for $2700. The power increase, although not mentioned appears to be in the same range at the cross over. Thank you very much for this video.
My car is currently at Slakker for a 3.9 build. I went with the competition crossovers from soul. I dont have the car back yet to report however but, I do recall Brandon saying that the crossovers were what he recommended vs the xpipe. They used to go w the top gear but had trouble w their warranty and has been recommending the soul.
I never quite got my head around why x pipe so I pulled the trigger on cross overs from Soul @ $2750. The path of exhaust to tailpipe makes a bit more sense to me at my current level of ignorance.
Here is the prompt I used in ChatGPT to find info on X-pipes:
Find a resource that discusses the effects on engine power when changing from a traditional exhaust to an exhaust with an X-pipe. Also include comments about the effectiveness across a range of rpms
its easier to list this than list the response. At the end, gpt asked for a specific engine. So I told it specifically, the m96 engine used in the Porsche 996 it provided summaries of all the X-pipes that are in this discussion.
Overall there are HP gains. Most reference 11-15 for 400hp base. Knowing what I know, the x-pipe is pretty cool. But, if you pair it with a set of headers, where both are designed for the engine, the result will be magical.
I first bought the X-pipe from flat six. Which was noticeable change. Then I bought their headers. A huge change. Then I got it tuned for my engine. It was a back and forth with the tuner for him to dial it in. The results are magical.
Sorry, long post.
Power delivery has always been very smooth. The rebuild to 3.8L brought the mid-range torque up. The headers, x-pipe, and tune just pushed all the curves up. Just more of everything. The problem I now have is that the bottom end moves air so fast, the heads are limiting air flow! My MAF signal flattens at 6k RPM. It didn't do this before the headers and X-pipe. Next step is to open up the top end with heads and cams. Too bad the extra power will overload the stock pushrods.
I am really liking what LN/FSI and Hoffman are doing with teaming up to get the configurations in a machine. Very interested in what you end up doing with the heads and cams.
