Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have managed to tie the cables in place using small cable ties, but this can't be a permanent fix.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have found my frunk emergency cable and it seems to be routed correctly but I cannot get it to release no matter how hard I pull.

POST 2Original post

How is it routed? I can't recall exactly how mine was originally routed but I think it was behind headlight. That puts a sharp bend in the wire and makes it rub on the front of the tub. Especially if you pull it from the wheel well. I shifted the pull loop in front of the left radiator. It still requires a firm tug to open the latch. I tuck it up behind the bumper opening to hide it. btw, you might add your vehicle details to your profile &/or signature block.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I managed to open the front by attaching another battery to the positive terminal in the engine bay. Jump cables were not long enough to get to the fuse board, but it worked fine from the engine bay. I can see the emergency cable where it enters the lock mechanism, but I can't pull it and I can't see where it's attached.

pull the bumper and fix it before it happens again. Also a good time to clean out the rads.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I discovered that the emergency cable had come away from the mechanism. Somebody had been in there doing something. The mechanism cover and the grommets holding the emergency and normal cable in place were all missing. I am surprised that the normal cable had not come off as well that would've been a big problem. I have managed to tie the cables in place using small cable ties, but this can't be a permanent fix. Does anybody know where I could get this part or a part number?
