Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, question, after a cracked head, I've taken out the engine of my 996. One of the things I'd like to check is the AOS. The engine was rebuilt 3.5kkm ago, the invoice of that rebuild says 'AOS internally modified'. This leads me to 2 questions; - Anyone has a clue if and how an AOS can be 'internally modified'? It seems that the part of the housing that contains the diaphragm, has been opened before. - Is there a way/procedure for testing the AOS outside of the car? Thanks for your advice!

I definitely have a clue but lots of questions... Can you post the Invoice ? I'd like to see the name of the shop and the cost/details of the internal mod ...Could be an attempted copycat... Does you car have an additional Flow Control on the AOS system or additional piping/components ?? Maybe a picture of the complete Crankcase Ventilation System will be needed to identify what you have installed... Why are you wanting to test it ???

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As a matter of principle I don't share names on the interwebs, but it was a Dutch specialist who specalizes in 996 type engines. Perhaps that gives you enough to go by? The tubing and plumbing is 100% identical to OEM and the outside too. I could post a picture, but that'd take some time because I have to go to the garage and it'd look exactly like original.. Reason for testing... the infamous 'while I'm at it'

POST 4Original post

Being Dutch doesn't tell me anything .. Everything else being 100% OEM does tell the tale.. Although I do remember a Dutch guy who was disabling the diaphragm and routing the plumbing to Vent to the Air Cleaner Box...
