Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The frequency gets much higher at about 12-15 seconds then quickly goes completely silent and I have no clue what "YOU" did to cause the sudden change...lol

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2000 C2 rebuild is running great but I have the strange noise at idle and in 1st or 2nd gear when coming up to a intersection, etc. can't hear it at the engine bay but inside the cabinet it's noticable. Any help or advice appreciated. John

POST 3Original post

To me it kinda sounds like a chipped tooth on the cluster gear of the Trans.... But to really have a good diagnosis I would need a video showing the RPM and MPH along with clutch in/out positions, gear 1/2/neutral ect ... The frequency gets much higher at about 12-15 seconds then quickly goes completely silent and I have no clue what "YOU" did to cause the sudden change...lol

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try and take a better video to and also show the rpms and also provide audio of when. I'm in which gear and when the Clutch is depressed. John

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here is an update without any new video or audio. Today I put the car on the lift, removed the rear bumper and heat shields for better access. I stated the engine and run it for over 10 minutes. I couldn't replicate any sounds with no load on the wheels/transmission. As soon as I put the car back on the ground, the noise immediately appeared. I used my automotive stethoscope and could not hear any noises similar to the above video coming from the engine, mufflers or cats. Outside of the car you can't hear the noise. Go back inside the cabin and there it is. It's present in neutral, 1st and 2nd gears and seems to go away around somewhere in the 1000-2000 rpms but it varies. Its also not present on a cold engine immediately after startup and takes a few minutes before it can be heard. John
