The trim piece that holds in the rubber seal on mine has split so I need to remove the windshield to replace the trim piece but cant find anything useful in an online search and the Bentley book has nothing.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

can anyone tell me the procedure to remove the rear windshield. The trim piece that holds in the rubber seal on mine has split so I need to remove the windshield to replace the trim piece but cant find anything useful in an online search and the Bentley book has nothing.

POST 2Original post

Im pretty sure its glued in and has to be cut out with a wire. Similar to how the windshield ia done.

POST 4Original post

I sent mine to a glass guy that had experience with Porsches. As far as I know, you will have to contort yourself to go in from the inside and remove the pillar trim around it, then cut through the windshield adhesive bonding the glass to the body.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok so I can now confirm that the inner trim ring does NOT come off without removing the screen. Typically the trim ring will get stuck on some of the sealant when the screen is installed. I had a specialist glass guy (friend of my son in law) come out and help by removing the screen and showing me how the trim ring was adhered to the factory adhesive and therefore would NOT come out without removing the windshield: I also believe that given the construction of the trim ring and how tricky it was to install on the windshield out of the car, that installing a new one with the windshield in the car would be next to impossible. Windshield is now fully installed with the new trim ring and rubber seal. Thanks Dallas Davidson for all your help. Interior will be reinstalled next once I have completed some refurbishment.
