Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I took off the interior 'triangle' trim and removed/replaced the cable.

Cheapest way is probably to find complete used mirror from ebay, and then take neccesary parts out.

Ill check the connection/O ring first, if that doesnt work Ill verify the new side view mirror motor works and if need be swap it out.

Suggestion
Before replacing the mirror or it's motor, I would recommend to check the plug connectiing the mirror to the harness.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The new motor worked identically as the original motor did, up and down it worked, inward and outward it did not.
Hi gang,
Vehicle is a 2000 Carrera Cab.
I noticed my passenger side mirror does not move inward or outward using the switch on the driver door. It does, however, move up and down. The Driver mirror does work normally in all four directions, eliminating the likely hood of a bad mirror switch.
Any suggestions how repair/replace this suspected bad motor? I will be replacing the mirror switch with a spare (once I get it) but I suspect Ive got a bad mirror motor.
Thanks

You can also get new part (mirror base) , like

Before replacing the mirror or it's motor, I would recommend to check the plug connectiing the mirror to the harness. Despite the thin O-Ring, some oxydation may be responsible for this issue. BTW, no need to remove the door pannel to do this.
Thanks for the suggestions guys . . . I found a clean used side view mirror on eBay for $33 delivered.

I finally got to addressing my non functioning side view mirror. I removed the mirror glass, then removed the three screws holding the adjustment motor in and replaced it with an extra motor I had. The new motor worked identically as the original motor did, up and down it worked, inward and outward it did not.
I then removed the inside cover plate of the side view mirror, reseated the pigtail. . . and voil! It worked.
The pigtail was loose. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, JB001 you were spot on.
I still have a good spare passenger side view mirror just in case.
Hi, I just encountered this problem myself - passenger side mirror not moving at all.
I took off the interior 'triangle' trim and removed/replaced the cable. Then I got the mirror to work left/right, but not up/down. Do my pins look correct? The 3 on the upper right section seem a little 'recessed' into the socket.
If I need to replace either the male or female wiring, does anybody have the part numbers? How do you remove the mirror?
Thank you.
