Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Been waiting for a 991ish upgrade to the old Led Tailights I have. Saw this on eBay. My 996 is black so it would blend in nicely. Just now on eBay. Pricey but cool. Blends well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/15732689896...ampid%3APL_CLK

not my car and this is just my opinion. these aftermarket led lights almost always cheapen the look of an older gen cars like ours. there is nothing wrong with the stock 996 taillight imo..

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hear ya, I've had LED taillights for years and also the headlights but get LOTS of compliments on them. It's obviously that old conundrum "o stray from OEM or not."

POST 5Original post

to each of their own. I buy and drive the car because I like the way it looks/drives. Not some other random folks. I still think stock taillight look significantly better than these that you got. But if you are really happy with it, thats fine. But if you want LED so bad, maybe just get a 987.2/997.2/991??? To be frank, I even think the stock LED taillights on the 997.2 look cheap as hell with those large individual bulbs that blends no where as well as the incandescent lights on the .1 cars. Anyway, just my opinion. If you are on the fence about this, maybe think about it a bit more. Less is more for exterior mods when it comes to this generation of cars.

The way I see it, and Im the original owner that has endured all the 996 hate, is that the mods I do are reversible. Like you, I love driving it first and foremost and thats my pleasure. I like the manual cable throttle feel of a 99 so Im not going newer.

POST 7Original post

I've upgraded all my lights and now love the look I have. That's what is important to each person. Then again, I'm not a purist in my views As someone already stated, 'to each his own'. Enjoy!

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 20295766

Personal preference. I kind of like the look myself.

POST 9Original post

Being objective, even though I own a 996, the best looking of rear 911's, is the 996 generation. First the C4, then then narrow bodies. I have always felt that the 997 tail lights look a little weird since they dig into the bumper line. Now if only somebody made a 996.2 good looking replacement headlight assembly, I would be very interested. These had potential: But the signal is just wrong. And these are almost the price of a set of stock halogens. I can also see the signal and halo ring just stop working and these become trash.

POST 10Original post

In my opinion, the only true upgrade to the 996 tailights would be installing factory OEM early-99 AMBERS! I think they look especially good on darker color cars. Ive considered doing this on my 2000

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20296312

Me too. The worst that can happen is putting my OEMs back in if I ever get tired of them or someone wants to buy it. I love the black headlights and they made a huge difference and are functionally so much brighter. I guess I'm less of a purist as well, more of an "unstock" guy!

POST 12Original post

I am far from a purist and my own car is heavily modded. But nearly $900 for a pair of lights of questionable quality on a car that looks more than just fine with the stock taillights... I dunno, I rather spend that on upgraded shifter assembly, better shocks, or GT3 LCAs.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20296580

Don't remind me! A Numeric shifter is something I've had on my list for a LONG time.

POST 14Original post

Cool to see the aftermarket coming out with new, modernized lights for our older cars. Could you post a video of the lights on, the sequential turn signal, and braking?

POST 15Original post

I bought my 99 a few years ago with aftermarket lights that actually gave great lighting but over the course of years I turned my car back to more stock like and I like it so much more this way from this to this

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 20297754

So much better now. Just needs a stock rear bumper Also, it looks like the rear wheels have very little tire on them. Is that the photo?

POST 17Original post

Sorry, the second photo makes the car look sickly, like it has jaundice or something. Better drive it to a hospital.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 20297754

Question: In that second photo, is that the OEM Aerokit factory front bumper? Or aftermarket? I want one. Although Im not sure if anybody would really be able to color match my Violet Chromaflair!

POST 21Original post

Really don't get the hate 996 exterior. Interior I get. That 997 aerokit on 996 is a blasphemy...

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 20298116

Nah that would be the first pic, the 997 front end. Im wanting that bumper from the 2nd pic which looks like the OEM 996 Aerokit front, I think

POST 23Original post

My rear tire size is 295/30/18 not so under tired I think it’s just the fitment of the BBS magnesium cup rims the front bumper is a factory aero cup car scored this locally since my car is a factory aero I think my factory turbo bumper works for me since I did more work on it

you couldnt be more wrong. Ive been running a set of these on my C4S for over five years, and theyve been outstanding top-notch quality and built to last. I get compliments on them all the time. Its amusing when people make judgments about the quality of something theyve never owned, seen, or even touched. These lights are incredibly bright, and since I do a lot of night driving, I couldnt be happier with their performance. My car has 235K miles now, and Ive had zero issues. I originally made the switch because the OEM wiring harness, with its soy-based coating, was deteriorating and despite trying new bulbs and keeping the lenses spotless, the stock lights just werent safe for night driving. Since then, Ive had my OEM units fully refurbished with new wiring, harnesses, and internals, but honestly, Im not going back. These lights have proven themselves.
