GM All! New to the forum and just picked up a 2003 C4S Coupe. This is my first 996 (previously had a 1986 coupe, which I regret selling 20 years ago). I�ve missed that car since the day I sold it! I came across the car at a good price, so I bought it. I have a question that I can�t seem to find an answer to. The car originally came with a Bose stereo system, that was replaced with a Sony touchscreen head unit at some point. In the trunk area there is an empty space which I believe was the CD changer location. (Top left side). There a random screw coming up from the bottom that I can�t seem to find out what it was used for. I want to pick-up a CD changer bracket and design a 3D printed storage box to fill the empty space with. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Excellent car choice, but I�m biased. That screw thing isn�t factory so it�s anyone�s guess what someone used it for. My 03 C4S came without the CD changer option too, so it looks just like your picture minus the screw thingy

It looks like one of those matt hold down things but upside down. The big screw sort of screws into the carpet and there was Velcro that held the matt from going forward. Mine never worked and I tossed the whole system.

Great choice! Finding a 996 C4S is not the easiest task. There are not many of them around, let alone for sale. Is that Black? I found a '04 PTS dark gray, not my first choice of color, but OK now, sorta grows on you. My C4S had the CD changer removed, so headunit always complains it can't find it. Future project to R&R all of it to make more modern, nothing really special. I have the same sort of leaves everywhere these days.... YMMV

Yes, it�s black with black interior. Same as my 86 was.
