Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It worked correctly before so I dont think anything was swapped, but the idea of reversing a couple wires did come to mind.
I removed rear passenger regulator and repaired broken wire with kit. Before putting everything back together, I wanted to check and make sure it worked. When I did it works backwards. I press up and window goes down, press down and window goes up. I checked the wiring harness, and it has a plastic pin so can only be connected one way. The other 3 windows work correctly. Anybody seen this happen or any ideas what could be causing it?
Maybe the previous owner de-pinned the connector and accidentally swapped the wires positions. You could de-pin the connectors and swap it back if youre hasty.
If youre after perfection, then youll have to find a wiring diagram (preferably with a connector diagram) and confirm whether the connector was misassembled. The connectors at either the window switch or the window motor are suspect.
1st thing I went to. The switch has 5 connections, 3 on one side 2 on other so cant be reversed. Motor has 6 wires; + from battery, ground, up from switch, down from switch, comfort close and comfort open. Maybe the comfort feature is causing an issue?
I thought that, maybe putting the harness on backwards because its down in fender so you cant see it. But when I took it out to check, it has a plastic guild pin to only allow connection in one direct.
My front driver regulator is messing up also, it should be here tomorrow. I went out yesterday morning and driver window would not move, it didn’t drop to open and would not go down. I lubricated tracks and it now goes up and down, but the drop function not working. I hear the regulator move, but the window doesn’t drop. Front window is also lowering about 6 inches sometimes after I raise it. Maybe something in one of the control units is causing it? I guess for now I’m putting it all back together then will cross my fingers that it works.
Well, can tell you without a doubt, where there is a will there is a way...
In my younger mechanical days, I've assembled connectors the wrong way, even when they shouldn't fit together. Unless the plastic connectors themselves are different shapes to not allow any type of connection, it can be done wrong, I've done it.
Now I look carefully at both connectors, look for the right way and the wrong way, and make sure I'm mating them correctly, and listen for the 'click' that tells me the locks have engaged...
Just a observation from a seasoned ' I've done it wrong before guy.'
My first guess in the front is a failed micro switch. It seems like there r 20 of them in the door
.
U have to study the wiring diagrams and start tracing. It is possible that the regulator u fixed is shorted or the power flow does go through the front regulator/switches and is causing the issues.
I checked the wiring schematics. Pin 1 is power, Pin 4 is ground, Pin 5 and 6 are for comfort open and close, and Pin 2 and 3 or open and close. Not sure how they line up in the connector, but Pin 1 should be in a corner and wouldn’t work if plugged in backwards. I think I’ll try swapping switches, they all seem to have 3 inputs, 2 outputs, and the lift side appears to be grounded in all 4.
There will be numbers molded into the plug telling u what the number the pin orientation is. They r small and hard to find. Sometimes they r in the face and sometimes on the back. I use a magnifing glass to find them. I would test out the plug first and see if its getting the correct signals.
I swapped switches and no difference. I tried unplugging the battery to see if that would work. It fixed the front window dropping, but not the rear window. I think I will just switch the positive and negative wires so motor turns backward.
Killing me as I rebuilt both rear window regulators. The passenger side is fine but the drivers side switch is now backward. Up is down and down is up.
Any ideas?
I have not yet. My plan is to switch the positive and ground since the wires are much easier to reach compared to removing the regulator. It was suggested that the winding was backwards, but on the kit I purchased that is not possible. But if there is a left and right side kit maybe I have the incorrect one.
I was able to fix my regulator. When I replaced the pulleys and the cable, I routed it wrong/backwards. After I corrected it, everything worked perfectly. You may want to double check on the kit or the routing. Hope that helps and good luck.
OK so I must admit that it was my fault. after checking everything several times I remembered that 2 months ago when I started the job I bench tested the motor. During that time I must have opened the motor and rotated it 180 degrees. I opened it and rotated 180 degrees and it fixed the issue. The final clue was when I called Window Regulators in PHX and they told me I needed a rebuild, it reminded me of what I did. Thanks for all the help. Next is fixing the convertible top issues.
Did you find a solution? I have the same problem, driver sider window switch works in opposite direction (its a 987, but should have similar electronics). I changed door lock and window motor with electronics, no change. When I click uo (or in diagnositics durametric open window) the window goes down. passenger side is ok.
I also not that the electric mirror is behaving strange, up,down, left, rigth are switched (seems up -> left) , I
Anyone can help
Thank you
