Suggestion · Original poster

Has anyone dealt with this before, am I just looking at replacing the part all together and do I need to replace the pump that is located at the bottom of the tank at the same time?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My fuel level has been inaccurate on my 2002 Carrera so I pulled the sender out today and found that it had come apart inside the tank. The plastic for the level is able to snap back into the grooves but when I try to maneuver the part back into the tank it separates. Has anyone dealt with this before, am I just looking at replacing the part all together and do I need to replace the pump that is located at the bottom of the tank at the same time? Are there non OEM options out there? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I'll be following this. My gas gauge is not very accurate, and I've been using techron to (hopefully) clean the rheostat area that sends the signal to the gauge. I've delved into the gas tank in similar cars, and it's not a fun experiemce.

Your problem might be a different problem. All you may need is calibration with piwis, as I did with mine.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree with Isalos. Mine is definitely a mechanical failure while that is calibration.
