I replaced the cam solenoid gasket and put some RTV near wire end, I checked the spark plug tubes and they are dry and I also change the AOS Valve up high on the block.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I am finding oil collecting on the coolant connection hose (small rubber elbow at passenger bottom of engine). I also see oil on the case right beside the coolant hose. I replaced the cam solenoid gasket and put some RTV near wire end, I checked the spark plug tubes and they are dry and I also change the AOS Valve up high on the block. Any other ideas of where the oil may be leaking from? The oil pump casing at the rear of the engine looks dry.

POST 2Original post

Probably at the AOS vent tube above that area.

I changed the valve and while doing so inspected the tube but it looked ok. Perhaps the o-ring inside the tube but the area looks pretty dry. I can give it another shot and look Thanks for the suggestion

You mite want to "cap" that vent valve if it continues to leak... That valve will open if the "blow-by" pressure gets up to a certain level......That valve was eliminated in mid 2002 because there is no good reason to dump that pressure ....( even if it gets considerably higher ).......but if the blow-by pressure gets extremely high then a correction is needed ...

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a chance to look at the valve and it looks pretty dry and I don't see oil around that immediate area. Pictured below and circled in blue. Could it be that in the second picture, the bolts circled in red (one is behind the coolant pipe) are leading to the leak? They look to be squeezing a metal gasket.

POST 6Original post

You had better hope that that is not the source of the leak......That metal gasket is the "head gasket".....not known for leaking but will require 20 hours labor ( book time) to replace....

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20282135

I'll have to keep looking if it is an unlikely suspect. It happens only after driving and not while sitting and tends to accumulate to a single drop on the floor, if at all..

POST 8Original post

That area of the head gasket is hard to seal tight. It's just a couple of M6 bolts. Suggestion: Add flourescent dye to the oil and rerun the leak test to see where it is coming from.
