Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I would say they are at least 1/3 bigger than stock.... I have the gt3rs ducts and was gonna pull them out and put these on for the street.... but its been on there forever so might as well put them to use.. they add up quick... just gonna enjoy the ride the way it is for awhile.

POST 6Original post

PM sent about the plenum. And you don't even have to ship transborder!

POST 7Original post

The plenum in your pic is for a 997 3.8 and will not fit the 3.6 motors. What gives?....

That is the box I received from RSS. Please look at 2nd pic, on the plenum itself, it shows for 996 & 997. I used it on my 03 4S and it fitted perfectly.

POST 11Original post

Plenum received, great transaction. Installed this morning. Quite a surprising little mod, that.

POST 12Original post

Bruce! Please elaborate cause I've been on the fence with this since last year!! [QUOTEQuite a surprising little mod, that][/QUOTE] thanks Pete

What have you noticed, or have you not had it installed long enough to quantify your findings?

POST 14Original post

I am going to go out on a limb that the Plenum makes a little bit of difference on its own but is a good mod with other mods combined; intake, headers, Cats and exhaust

POST 15Original post

Lord knows, I am NOT interested in getting into one of these debates in which certain folks dismiss me as an idiot who falls for crooked marketing ploys and how could Porsche leave power on the table and all the rest of it... so this is only what I experienced, and it therefore cannot possibly be wrong. Yours may vary, etc... My car already had an aftermarket exhaust, intake and flash. Each of these mods was done on its own over time, in that order. The ECU was reset after each one. I am well aware of the subjective nature of this and the myriad external factors that can affect this stuff. But I will say that I felt a bigger difference with this mod than at any other step in my modding process. My confidence that there is a difference is supported to some degree by how specific the difference was: To the seat of my pants, it's a HP mod, not a torque mod, so you experience no additional shove in the back. However, north of about 3500 rpm or so, you get that bungee cord feeling that says there is more horsepower in that part of the rpm band than there was before (I am completely disinterested in peak HP numbers, which I think are only good for bench racing and ad copy). The tach needle swings a little faster, the speedo numbers flip by a little more quickly, and at the bottom of a very familiar entrance ramp I'm carrying more speed than I'm used to. I felt the same effect gearing down to pass people (this was on the 407, for those familiar with Toronto). Subjectively, the sensation is pronounced and satisfying, and considering the cost in relation to my other mods, a pretty reasonable value. By comparison to the OE part, the IPD piece is made far more substantially than Porsche could have afforded to do. Make of that what you will. If you're a guy who enjoys bolt-on mods, this seems to be a really good one. If you're not, I doubt anything short of a supercharger would win you over anyway.

POST 16Original post

Bruce, Your observation is very close to the one I have heard. The plenum does not give you better performance through out the RPM range but it will give you better performance within one. My light bulb moment in modding came from the Fabspeed headers and a flash to adjust for that. I had a flash for the intake and exhaust before and it was missing something. The throttle response was good felt quick but it lacked that piece until the headers were put in with the flash. Headers without the flash was noticeable but not memorable like the package deal. I would like to get the plenum and 200 cell cats with a reflash at some point but without the PSE switch to tone down the cats when I need is a tough call.

POST 17Original post

Thanks Bruce, no need to feel defensive, not asking for dyno graphs...just seat of the pants results. As you mentioned awhile ago, you like to modify your Porsche and you have, and that makes you happy because it becomes 'your' signiture on your 911, and that's cool.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 7565111

Thanks Was more preemptive than defensive. As with the Great Oil Schism, debates about bolt-ons tend to become theological with certain folks, by which I mean overheated and without a shred of objective evidence acceptable to both sides. I just wanted to spare everybody that, while still responding to the question.
