Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some things for my car arrived..... and my first install... I tried to put the sport seats in today.. but its a little more than I am up for at the moment. too many plugs and wires..... i read the DYI for the GT3 seat install, but I seem to have an extra harness going to some sort of computer and I didn't see an easy to get to plug. Anyone else have any experience in this arena?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Best I can do till tom.. crappy pic from today...

POST 4Original post

Is that a Fiat 124 Spyder sharing a garage with your 996? Great cars - I had '73 that I rebuilt (thought that an engine rebuild is a proper rite of passing...) Rudy

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yup, a 78 not road worthy at the moment though... but runs super! :-)

POST 6Original post

Good choice on a first mod... But, are you planning on getting racing seats?? Otherwise I don't understand the point of a harness bar.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

good question... yes.. but not right now. :-)

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anyone have any experience pulling out the stock memory seats and putting in sport seats? the harness is scaring me.. not whats listed in the DYI......:{

POST 9Original post

I pulled my stock memory seats out to get my rollbar in, however I didn't change to sport seats (I have Sparcos going in very soon). I'm gonna look for the instructions I used & I'll get back to you... You really, really need to get proper track seats though, otherwise there is 0 point in having a harness bar.

POST 10Original post

Great items! Quick question though.......are you planning on running harnesses with the sport seats?????

POST 11Original post

The extra Harness is the memory seat and mirror module (which is mounted on the bottom of the drivers seat near the front of the seat). The module goes with the original comfort seats and you will not need them with sport seats. You may have to re-pin some of the plugs depending on the year of your car and the year of the donor car. I got my sport seats from an 04 GT3 and had to move them over a slot.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yes yes, lol, im aware that these seats are not able to be used with a harness, and that theoretically my harness bar is currently pointless. :-) But my family makes them, and I wanted to have it in there, plus I was able to install it myself, unlike all of the other parts I got, and I didn't want to get all this cool stuff and have it just sit in the garage. I do plan to get proper seats, but don't have the mula at the moment as I need to replace my DD. I understand some may think that's pointless... but it makes me happy, and that's what I bought the car for.. to smile every time I look at it/ drive it/ think about it. :-) now, about those seats... the sport seats are out of my dad's 99.. same car, same color... i see how to get the 1 harness unplugged, but the other bunch of wires running to the silver box with a circuit board does not appear to have a plug to disconnect..... I understand now that its for the memory seat/ mirror... but how to unplug them to free the seat?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

FYI, I do believe that they still add some safety value... I firmly believes that the harness bar gave extra structural integrity to the car and saved my brother from certain harm during this wreck... granted this one mounts a little differently, but you get the point. ;-)

POST 14Original post

Whatever makes you happy is what counts! Just as long as they are eye candy and NOT used with stock seats.

POST 17Original post

The little silver box under the seat is IIRC air bag related. That should un-plug with the main harness (There are 2 I think- It's been a while since I did the swap) under the seat that are attached to the bottom of the frame. When you unbolt the sliders tilt the seat back and you should see the large locking plugs. The other wires that go to the memory module (mine was black and was just under the front lower seat cushion) I think unplug at the back of the module itself. Don't forget to transfer the seat belt buckles to the new seat if they don't already have them on.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

had my amber signals tinted today at acutint and added the smoked side markers... looks soooo much better. nice quick fix for $35. still want litronics though..

POST 19Original post

I think that is a great solution... sure its not the "best" but they are much less visable and much more understated Lookin' good
