I also changed my OEM faded-away hood-crest with the silver one (same as Ed's pic) and I am happy with the quality too.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I want to exchange my discolored hood badge/decal. I noticed from underneath the hood, there are 2 pins being held by (not screws) some rings. Anyone ever done this? Need advise please...Thanks
yes, those are "nuts" that pop off and just order new ones AND a new "gasket" with the new decal (ornament)
PS the "new" (aka 997) badge is ugly and costs 1/2 as much, get the good one...
Noted Gents, APPRECIATE the inputs. I'll do just as prescribed, ASAP. I just received new badge (not sure if 996/997), but it isn't gold, it's silver (comes w/ gasket). I've got a color-theme going: yellow, black. silver
Before Dells comment, I knew It just didn't look right. I like the silver, but the "PORSCHE" almost looks as if it was freehand drawn, the horse head is disproportionately large, as is the tail and the branches are not accurate. Stuttgart also looks freehanded. Really, not trying to nit pic, but the emblem looks substandard for the car.
Mornin' gents, thanks for dropping in..I paid $25 for the badge/crest (orig. costs around $40s). I never knew whether Porsche has ever released a silver version of such, but I have seen on the web, twice of some other cars w/ it (not too closely).
Now that I've looked closely (thanks nit-pickers), it does look 'vintage'
Question: Is there an original silver one? Like the pix you showed, Ed. Where/How much? I just need to satisfy this 'silver-crave'
Mucho gracias....
ebay, I paid $100; definitely a replica, but a quality one....the seller offered to refund my money if I didn't like the quality; but it's a good one even up close..
Porsche never made a silver crest
BTW that crest would NOT make it onto my car.... get out your "big wallet" and buy a better one (sorry, just truthful)
IIRC they are north of $100 now...
you can mount that one to your toolbox or keyboard
thanks for that bit of info...Eric at bumper plugs also sells a real nice silver one and another vendor on ebay had an anodized black crest, which would look great on the right type of Pcar...or Pika Chu for that matter...
Ed, I would check with Eric at Bumperplugs. IIRC, the silver crests he has are actual Porsche parts with part numbers and all. I could be wrong. I know, it's rare, but it happens
I also changed my OEM faded-away hood-crest with the silver one (same as Ed's pic) and I am happy with the quality too. YES agree with Dan's comment above, those push-pins are there to hold the badge tight, but there is no need to force them in too hard.

You thought that all would last forever
But like the weather
Nothing can ever...and be in time
Stay gold..."
