Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I for one would like to see a post on how to disassemble my sunroof to clean the cables, but there isn't one.

This in turn makes it much easier for them to approach me and talk about problems which I in turn can address and make the company run better"

I am not interested in articles about what color paint to use on their calipers or a round of applause for an "oil change well done".
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This forum is full of great information and I get a lot of useful stuff from it. I really appreciate the input from this site.
Being a new Pcar owner I guess I am not jaded yet but I wish I could read more stories about great drives and where they are and how it went.
The cop you saw and decelled before he saw you. The hot chick in the passenger seat of a Audi that checked you out. The cop that was texting as you blew by, 30 miles over the limit, and he didn't look up. Stuff like that.
Who cares what you do with your CD holder or if you got a sunroof delete! Really? Who doesn't want a sunroof!!?? If you track I understand.
I would like to see more feel good stuff I guess.
Best reaction I saw as a couple of days ao when a japanese tourist with his girl on the back of a rental harley slowed down to 30-35 on the 55mph hwy. He saw the solobiker cop set up on the side of the hwy and didn't want any questions of how fast I guess. Me I had just dudded out to the congestion and set up behind the harley. Funniest thig I've seen for a long time a guy slowing to almost a stop because of a cop.
Nah I wasn't thinking of nailing it
I hear ya Hapich. does get a bit much hearing about all the things that could go wrong with these cars, any car for that matter. on the other hand this is a technical forum.
little over three years of ownership now after a lifetime of lusting for a Porsche and still get giddy walking into the garage and seeing the car there.
favorite driving moments for me are those early weekend morning drives in the spring time, little traffic the magic morning light. sneaking out of the hood waiting for the car to warmup. getting to my favorite set of corners and letting lose.
or the time I got stopped on the highway and got away with just a warning...
getting smiles from woman, some hot and some not. thumbs up from other dudes in their hot rods or sport cars. all the little things that make going for a drive for the sake of a drive special.
cheers,
enjoy the drive.
For the guys suffering from the IMS neurosis possibly in search for a second childhood by acting like school girls
I have to figure the bird. This is after the neurotic aspect of it gets to be too much to be laughed away think about my running the heck out of the car enjoying it while some other guys hear lifter noise and fear the engine is going to fail.
Maybe some day I'll move to california and start a law suite against the state CHP for causing me to fear policemen. Then throw a big drunken party for all the police with the money I win
I,m interested in more real technical posts not less.As the price comes down these cars will reach owners who fix their own cars. I am not interested in articles about what color paint to use on their calipers or a round of applause for an "oil change well done". Could care less about stories
I'm headed to Conn. on Sat., and I'm looking forward to actually using my 911 for an extended drivewith my wife. Don't care ifthe weather is good or not, at least I'll be enjoying my ride.
That was a good thread that someone started......me, I'm spending the weekend making sure I'm ready for the first DE of the season here with the Central Indiana Region PCA.
Its gonna be a good summer!
While we have threads now and than about these things and Moderators are not "that" strict about subject matter it still is a tech forum, But better than that it is a community so bring on the stories but lets try and keep them in one or two threads like the one Ed linked to
I used to tell my old boss that my BS'ing with the guys was beneficial to the overall business model... naturally he had to ask how the hell I could twist this into something good....
I said, "by BS'ing with the guys I develope a better relationship. Trust. This in turn makes it much easier for them to approach me and talk about problems which I in turn can address and make the company run better"
so you see....talking is good even if it "seems" OT
I think a lot of us don't give a damn about policemen texting or trying to nab us for speeding, and don't own our cars for the benefit of the hot chick in the Audi.
I always thought of this as a problem solving board. Sure, there are lots of good stories, but I actually do care about car related stuff. If somebody comes up with a good way to do something to the car, or if somebody has a question about the car, that interests me more than some story about a hot chick winking at me at a gas station. That's not why I bought the car, and not why I visit this board.
Honestly, you guys are a lot of fun and I'm sure we would have a blast if we ever got the opportunity to hang out in a single location.
I know that digital communications have brought the world together but until I came to this place I never imagined that I could regard a group of people I've never met in person as good friends - you guys proved that notion wrong.
OK - well 6:beer thirty has been on hold - you guys made fun of my "no post for a week" and asked "what next, no beer?"
YUP - its been one week today... the beer is easier to quit than RL !!
I dont really know what to drink though and have had a lot of milkshakes

And I think that any discussion regarding these cars is good reading. IMS is the latest PITA but there's a lot of people breaking these things open now and I think it's important that we keep it the discussions up. No one wants to hear the same **** and moan about failures or potential issues but I certainly don't mind hearing about how the average joe fixes these "timebombs".
Okay, right on. The technical stuff is great too. I love that part of this forum as well. I just wanted to rant a bit because I read one to many posts about moving a switch on the dashboard and blew a gasket. Plus I was half in the bag
Sorry late to the party...and I'm going to have to strongly disagree.
This..is a technical forum. It says so right at the top there:

What you are looking for is the "off topic forum" All the bullsh!t you crave is right there.
I for one would like to see a post on how to disassemble my sunroof to clean the cables, but there isn't one. Given that there is no thread on the sunroof re and re, I will hopefully have the energy to put one together once I get around to doing the job. When I do so, I dearly hope no one will criticize my efforts because they would rather read a story about the girl that flashed her **** when I drove by.
Technical forum and Off topic - please post appropriately.
Sorry to be pissy about this boys.
Yeah, you're right. I wish I actually got flashed too. Maybe that's why I'm so cranky.
I do have a story though.
About 12 years ago I was washing my first Porsche (1978 Minerva Blue 911SC) when a neighbour I sort of knew from came up and told me that her niece was visiting with a bunch of friends.
She said that her niece et al were just graduating high school and that it was custom for the cool kids to make videos of themselves pulling stunts to show during the grad party. Would it be ok she asked if these girls came over, stripped to their underwear and pretended to wash my car while aunty videotaped?
Well sure I said, and sure enough 10 minutes later two SUV with eight seventeen year old high school girls pull up, strip to their panties and bras and ham it up for the camera for 5 minutes or so.
I'm standing there soapy sponge in hand (so to speak) thinking that Porsche ownership is just fine by me.
Anyway, they take off and that was that. Not a word of a lie people.
Some weeks later the ex husband of the neighbour comes over and tells me he saw the tape. Apparently it got racier as the night progressed.
Now let's get back to that technical chatter. I think I have to separate the sunroof liner from the roof panel, and this will give me access to where the cables are attached... Then I can detach the cables, remove them and clean them. Not sure ho I will get to the guides though....
