Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone. I was driving back home last night and started hearing this weird noise everytime I pressed the clutch pedal. It sounds like a power steering pump when it has no fluid. (Check video) https://youtu.be/V-mfgkhMZck I havent seen any leaks, but the power steer reservoir was empty so I filled it up. The car is still making that noise. Any ideas of what could be wrong? I've been searching but not much luck.

POST 2Original post

The throughout bearing for the clutch is probaby shot. Time to drop the trans for a full clutch/ flywheel remove and replace.

Hi! Did you find out what it was? I am having the same problem now. Thanks

POST 4Original post

Throw-out bearing for sure. The bearing is only turning when the clutch is depressed, so that is why it goes away when you let up.

POST 5Original post

This was back in Jan - assuming/hoping he got it taken care of. First time I've seen this symptom though. Whats typical lifespan on the bearing? Guess its a good idea to preemptively replace anytime you're doing a clutch

I always replace when I do a clutch. They, and the input shaft bearing (or bushing if you don't have the bearing) are considered wear items for most clutch setups, and typically come as a set. clutch disc, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, input bearing/bushing. I know that you can buy those components separately, but they all should be replaced as a set, in my opinion.
