Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I didn't have much success with this, however, and eventually just replaced the entire mechanism with a used assembly purchased from a lister.
Leading evidence: 'Replace entire mechanism' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean ...never hear it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
It's a purely mechanical system using a motor to drive a rack and pinion mechanism which pushes/pulls a pair of bowden cables to act on the hinges (Item #17 in the drawing Tim attached).

Spencido - I have the same noise with mine when using the override switch after cleaning - BUT NO NOISE AT ALL when it goes up automatically at 75 mph.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, arrived at work this morning with my rear wing was stuck up. I pressed the manual button to lower it and it creaked but went down. I tried it again (up/down) same noise!
I did wash my car last night but I don't think that would have had an effect. Sounds like it needs a grease/oil or something. Any ideas?

Hey Chris!
Welcome to Rennlist! Post some pics of your car when you have a chance!
(This character named gota911 gets cranky when new members don't post pics)
Yes, you should grease the mechanism. Lithium grease works well. Easy to do, just grease the moving parts.
Pics??? Did someone say pics?? You NEED to post pics before Tim gets a hold of you..... oh, wait... I'm Tim!
wait a minute... how does that effect the rear wing.....
this is getting too technical... to the OP, if you agree, this is too hard, I have a fixed wing for sale that will solve all your troubles...
Doh,
I thought I posted a pic of the wing in the up position, not the deck lid.
Now when I re-read the post it makes absilutely no sense. It was late and I guess I was tired or I saw something shiny and got distracted, or I was admiring how good the detailed engine bay looked or I was testing you to see if you were paying attention,
OK, OK,..... I f'ked up!
I think you have to remove the bellows and grease the mechanism in the spoiler. Here is the PET diagram of the Spoiler Assembly.
BTW, I am going to change my original post and delete the pic.
The spoiler on the normally aspirated cars isn't hydraulic. It's a purely mechanical system using a motor to drive a rack and pinion mechanism which pushes/pulls a pair of bowden cables to act on the hinges (Item #17 in the drawing Tim attached).
You might try spraying a little teflon or silicone lubricant into the tops of the hinges (#17 in the drawing). Those are accessible when the spoiler is in the up position. I didn't have much success with this, however, and eventually just replaced the entire mechanism with a used assembly purchased from a lister.
Spencido - I have the same noise with mine when using the override switch after cleaning - BUT NO NOISE AT ALL when it goes up automatically at 75 mph. Because of that fact, I always thought that the wing was engineered specifically to opperate at a level of down force greater than that which exists at 75 mph. Having said that, what does it sound like when it goes up automatically at speed?
I heard its like 3 monkeys with a set of pots and pans.... but my new muffler is SOOO sweet, I cant hear anything but that flat 6 kicking out the power !
there are fixed wings available... in fact.....
